Haha. The Chadli, siggy sell ons and wimmer fee could get us Barkley. Essentially Wimmer for Barkley. Genius.

Or we just buy Sanchez and keep Wimmer so Liverpool can't have Van Dijk so easily and sell Janssen and Sissoko and use the money from all other sales.
I actually feel we should try to keep Wimmer as a back up CB and it would be great to not help Liverpool get Van Dijk

I think we would happily keep Wimmer, but if he's asked to leave for playing time then I don't think we'll stand in his way.

FWIW, if you click on the link to that Saintsweb ITK on page 8 of this thread, the ITK is adamant that they won't sell to Liverpool. The same poster correctly called that VVD's transfer request/statement would come in one day before it happened. He had also correctly called that VVD was going on strike earlier in the window, so seems to have his finger on the pulse of that particular saga and hasn't been wrong yet.

Exclusive: Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer in talks over £15 million move to West Brom

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer is in talks over a £15 million move to West Bromwich Albion.

Tony Pulis, the West Brom head coach, has moved for Wimmer this week and is hopeful of signing the Austrian international in the next few days.

Wimmer has been made available by Spurs and looks set for a move to the Hawthorns after Pulis abandoned his bid for Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson.

Negotiations between the two clubs are now at an advanced stage and Albion could even have the 24-year-old available for Saturday’s trip to Burnley if talks continue to run smoothly.

There has also been interest from Stoke and Crystal Palace but Albion have now edged ahead and expect to make Wimmer their fourth senior signing of the summer. It is understood that the deal could reach £20 million after various instalments.

Signed for £4.3 million from FC Koln in May 2015, Wimmer made only four Premier League starts under Mauricio Pochettino last season. His departure suggests that Spurs could be making progress in their attempts to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.

Pulis has made the signing of another centre-half a priority but Wimmer’s anticipated arrival does not mean that Jonny Evans will be sold.

Sanchez to us, Wimmer - WBA, Evans to City
Van Dijk - Chelsea

Saints would look very muggy if they sold him to Pool now

Southampton's chairman came out yesterday and said there's no way they'll sell him this window. Think they're making an example of him like we did of Modric when Chelsea came in for him. They'll sign the Lazio CB (not Koulibaly) and then sell him in January/next summer I'd imagine.

I hope so. It's refreshing that 'smaller' clubs are now making a stand against the bigger clubs. even if we get caught up in it as well - just shows how much money is sloshing around the league these days

Southampton also just sold 80% of the club to the Gao family. If they were in need of funds, not sure either way (although I doubt it), they aren't any more and can definitely afford to take a stand with VVD now.

Didn't we reportedly turn down a £19m bid from Southampton earlier in the week? Letting a deal get as close as personal terms would surely suggest we're now fully confident in landing Sanchez within the next few days... or maybe I've just let the transfer window get to me and have to analyse everything
