How is losing pl experience wimmer and adding no pl experience sanchez adding any depth to our squad.
Because Wimmer is not being played. At all. There is no point keeping around a player that is not actually selected for other than the bench. If Pochettino will use a replace CB more than he will use Wimmer, then it is a direct improvement of depth.

Was worth keeping around while we don't have any cover for Vert's !

From what i can see, we haven't sold him yet. Seems a few are already saying goodbye.

Personally, I would hold onto him if offer only £15-20m. Unless we are sure we have Sanchez and Foyth and/or we need the money to get those 2.

Seems very cheap at first glance. Maybe issues over his fitness? Levy knows exactly what he's doing though.

You can be sure whatever deal is done it'll be the best possible one available to the club.

WBA might be paying a lot of the £15m upfront (if City are going for Evans they'll drop more cash than anyone) with Southampton paying £19m over time with add ons etc.

Last season, Wimmer was on the bench for three of out of four matches that Vertonghen were out injured. So even in a season in which we deployed three CBs, and in which Vertonghen were out injured a bit, was Wimmer not played very much. It boggles me to hear fans talk about Wimmer as adding depth, when Pochettino has shown an adversity towards picking him even under dire circumstances.

£15-20M for a player who's had what 20 games in 2 seasons that we originally paid less than £5M, I'd say even in this market is decent business.

Wimmer is strangely overrated on here. He's okay, that's it. He's not a £25 million defender in any market. As has been pointed out, there were times last season that even when we had injuries in that position, Poch didn't use him. £15m for him is a very good deal.

I agree. His mobility on the Wembley pitch would cause us a fair bit of concern. I think Poch has known this for sometime, especially after the City game where he was been pulled all over the place. Not only that but he was getting hurried in possession a lot. Even Austria did not have him down as first choice.

I like Wimmer, I do think he's fairly solid but he's probably more of a fit for a team who like to be very compact and aren't so expansive with their play.

£15m a VERY good deal for a premier league central defender in the current climate?

Strongly disagree. £10m in this market will prob only get you a defender with 1 leg. ;)

In all seriousness, look at what players are going for and still tell me Wimmer for 15m is a VERY good deal.

Show me a player that's gone for big money who played 5 games last season. All the big money players have been first team proven regulars.

Look at what Fulham are asking for Sessegnon and they are in the championship.

that's because when Ryan is Kev's age he could be worth crazy money
While i agree, COULD is the operative word here.

Wimmer has proven he can handle the premier league while RS is an unknown at that level.

Hence my point that £15m is not a VERY GOOD deal for Wimmer in this environment.

15m rising to 20m is a good deal for Wimmer and all parties. We paid less than 4m. He's hardly played much to justify more.

In comparison Gabriel is on the verge going to Valencia for 10m which is about the same price they paid.

Depends on who is buying, and how much demand is out there for the player. Does not seem that the demand for Wimmer is very high.

If him going to WBA over Saints means that VVD doesn't join the Dippers or Chelsea then that's an added bonus
