i would rather us focus on improving our chances to win the damn thing, as opposed to stopping or killing others title hopes.

Same end result of course, but we should be focussed on our own path.

Read the article, not just the headline.

Read the article, not just the headline.

Read the article, not just the headline.

The sentiments in the headline bear absolutely no relationship to any of the quotes from Kane. Nothing. No reference of any kind to Liverpool's title hopes.

This is all he actually said:

We want to build and if we beat them next week, we go seven points clear of them. We want to catch Chelsea and it is important to stay as high as possible in the table

We are way over due a win against these but the place is a grave yard for us & i won't be surprised to see us get turned over again there.I would take a point all day.

When we're nine points off the top with 14 games to go we don't have the luxury of being ok with a draw. We must try to win every game. I hate Liverpool so winning would be beautiful, that has to be the goal.

Realistically, as are ours.
Could well be our best season in the premiership though.

Chelsea made a real statement last week and if we're to put them under pressure we must do the same this week. Who's to say they won't mess up themselves? We just don't know yet, however unlikely it seems now.

“It is important for us,” said Kane. “We want to build and if we beat them next week, we go seven points clear of them. We want to catch Chelsea and it is important to stay as high as possible in the table.

“We don’t know if Chelsea can be caught but hopefully they will drop a few points. Chelsea have the nine-point gap but Liverpool dropped points against Hull and Arsenal against Watford. These things happen in the Premier League.”
][/QUOTE]

I'd say there's no need to read between the lines. He says he wants us to beat Liverpool.
The knock on effect, which needs no real further comment is that it would end Liverpool's title challenge.

I doubt Klopp and the players will be reading this and saying "yeah but he didn't really say that did he, read the quotes"

They're just going to see a story from our star player saying (with quotes) that he wants us to beat them.
They'll be fired up by that.

It might play out. We did the same before Chelsea at home and we won.
But we also lost away to them, and United and were fucking lucky against City.

All our players should keep their gobs shut and do their talking on the pitch! It's our job as fans to talk shite about other teams, not club staff.
