He's a pretty decent player who possesses some attributes that we lack. A good backup option if other transfers didn't come off.

I wasn't overly impressed whenever I had seen him play personally but If they offered say 10m plus Mario for Dembele though it would be a good deal.
Dembele is only gonna get worse from now and his value will only get lower.

From what I saw of him this season on loan at West Ham, he looked like a decent player with good attacking attributes.

Before he left Porto for Inter Milan, he were in great form but staggered after joining Inter. I'd take a shot at him and swapping cash + dembele is a good deal if things doesn't go well

He’s an interesting player.

One of those where if the system and tactics suit him he can be great. Otherwise he can look absolute shit.

Not sure if we’re the right team for him or not, but on the whole I’d rather us go for some of the other players we’ve been linked with instead.

Here's a thought - why not thoroughly scout a player and buy him for our team's philosophy rather than signing another "opportunity," business-wise.

This is the sort of thing that sees us end up with Nkoudou, Sissoko and Llorente.

... and Alli, and Dier, and Van Der Vaart... not that I disagree with your point philosophically, but it’s quite disingenuous to pretend that only the failures came from a bargain-signing MO. And Sissoko should absolutely not be included in that category, he was a far-too-expensive contingency/emergency when plans failed, not an opportune bargain signing.

Didn't really takes notice of his performances for West Ham, but watched him for Portugal against Belgium last Saturday and he was excellent. Best player on the pitch that day (with the likes of Hazard, KDB and our Mousa present). I think in the right formation and under the right manager he can excel.

Here's a thought - we may have scouted him thoroughly and may have concluded that he fits our philosophy...

He's so mediocre, watched him a lot at Inter before he went to West Ham, i would actually prefer Andre Gomes. He really would add nothing to our team, he doesn't excel at anything. Also his agent is Kia Joorabchian... Hard pass from me. Not that it matters.

Er... Sissoko was an opportunity on deadline day. He certainly wasn't scouted.

(We'd approached Palace about Zaha just days before)

I am sure we heavily scouted Ali and Dier, plus they were young and cheap.
