It would be good to secure this guy - £31m? He's obviously dependent on Toby's future being sorted.

It looks like after player sales of Rose / Toby / Tripps / Aurier / Wanyama / Janssen / Nkoudou / Onomah / CCV we could look to bring in Andersen (or similar) / Digne (or similar) / Aarons (or similar) / Nathan Bishop (or similar) - with Ndombele / Lo chelso / Clarke and Sessegnon not dependent on sales. So perhaps 8 players in? And 11 players out (with 9 sold, Vorm and Llorente leaving on a free).

If Eriksen goes I'd expect another attacker in.

It seems like a lot of change. I wouldn’t be optimistic on the impact such huge changes would have on a squad where cohesion is a major asset.

I agree

And that's why it was important to bring in 2 or 3 new faces last summer, to help with strengthening the squad incrementally

Oh well, that ship's sailed...

And that does present a problem for this window. It’s a delicate balance to strike between the strengthening we need and keeping that cohesion.

Even with just 3 signings (LB, CM, ACM) we might be able to get away with it, despite last summer's failure.

We'd probably need to resign Eriksen though and hope that Toby maintains his form for the final year of his contract.

Then next summer we'd have to bring in a RB, CB and AM to freshen up our pack of forwards.

It's doable, but we can't really afford to mess it up this summer.

Btw, the above is contingent on aiming for a top 4 finish; if we were going for the league title then we'd need quite a bit more surgery on the squad.

Opps, I'm going off topic...

RB is more important than LB at the moment

Why @Hercules ?

It wasn't a dig at Levy or the club. If we have to wait to know what's going on with Toby the likely scenario is that another club will come in before we can do anything? No?

I find it a little amusing that someone who gets so touchy about ratings is happy to dish them out without discussion.

That seems wildly optimistic... and probably a disaster.
Vorm and Llorente are gone. CCV and Onomah don't even feature for us. Neither do Janssen and Nkoudou. So ignore those six.

Bishop coming in would be 3rd choice keeper.

It's really only 7 outfield players in (including Clarke & Sess for development) and 6 regular players out which is not that much change and probably on a par with 2013.

It amazes me that people are so afraid of change - shipping someone like Aurier out who is contributing nothing, is a good thing IMO. We are also playing transfer window catch up.

Danish paper (BT) is quoting Andersen today. In short:

“There are several clubs interested. I loved my time in sampdoria but now it’s time to move on to a club where I can develop further”

BT goes on and states that Sampdoria has already been told by the players representatives, that he wants to leave and the club agrees that now is the right time

BT also states that Spurs is one of the Clubs that have held several talks with Andersen’s people (Lyon as well)

BT is pretty reliable when it comes to danish players

If Alderweireld goes Andersen would be an excellent player to bring in to shore up the numbers.

Long term I'd be happy to see Andersen, Dier, Sanchez & Foyth be our CB options. That is of course once Toby & Jan's times up.

We look far more balanced with a left-footer and a right-footer in those CB positions, so I think that could be a problem long-term. I suspect that's why we're rumoured to have an interest in Nathan Ake.

Left/right is super overrated IMO. Real play with 2 righties, Bayern 2 righties, athletico 2 righties, Ferdinand and Vidic 2 righties, chelsea 2 righties, etc. We shouldn’t go after a lesser player just because he’s left footed.

I'm only going off what I've seen from Spurs really. To me whichever of our right-footed centre backs plays on the left looks uncomfortable and it sacrifices elements of their play. Alderweireld has been used there a few times, and when he has played there we invariably miss his long cross-field passes from the back. Others look to be more conservative in their passing too, and our entire left-side suffers as a result. Just my onion!

Buying from the Italian league always makes me nervous. Just has such a different pace and level of athleticism than the PL.

Wish we were linked to either of the young French kids at RB Leipzig. Konate and Upamecano look quality.

I'm no football scout but I saw Upamecano play against Frankfurt, September '17, and he dominated. I expected to hear his name a lot more.

19 deals when we couldn’t even complete one in over 500 days!?!?
