It makes absolutely no sense though. Why would Villa not want their best player if they get promoted? Why if it was a ‘done deal’ would we risk injury by allowing him to play in the play off final? Twitter is a fucking cesspit.

I'm 99% sure he will stay at Villa if they get promoted. He's a boyhood Villa fan, his family loves the club and if they have no need to sell then he isn't going to force it.

I think we should have some respect for that also, fair play to him for not kicking up a fuss last season and I think we would do well to remember all of the people we've told to fuck off with utter disgust when they've told us that Kane will surely leave for a big club.

True, though we were (and are) on the verge of becoming title contenders and getting regular champions league footy while Villa are doing the yo-yo between divisions

Which is the same sort of argument people were using as to why Kane would have to leave Spurs because he won't win trophies at spurs. If they lose the playoffs then fair enough he will likely leave but if they're making it to the Prem, they're on the up. He will at the very least I imagine want a season with them in the Prem.

Let's not forget Villa is a big club with a big fan base, I think they deserve more respect and I don't like seeing our fanbase just assume no matter what happens he will want to come to us when we've spent the last 4 or so years telling people to fuck off when they suggest it about Kane. If he gets them in the prem, I reckon he will stay with them at least for this season and for me, I respect him for that.

The other possibility is that if they win promotion he has done his duty to Villa by staying there to get them promoted back to the premier league.
Looking at it from a straight ability perspective there are two questions, is he good enough to play at a top side and are Villa that top side or will they become one? I don't know if he values Aston Villa more than his career but he is well good enough to play for a better team than Aston Villa.

Yep agreed. And the "he'll want to play for Villa in the PL" line, that people keep using. It's as though it's been forgotten that he's experienced 3 previous PL seasons with Aston Villa. And if he's honest with himself, he'll know full well that next season is unlikely to be too dissimilar to their previous adventures in this league.

I think the only thing that'll change if Villa do come up, is the price, rather than his availability.

Without doubt, but he’s only 23. I know football is a short career, but he has plenty of time to go to a more successful team in a few years.

They are already in trouble with the football League FFP rules, it would be a big gamble to spend big with no guarantee of staying up, they could potentially face a points deduction the next season, if relegated.

Villa have championship ffp hanging over their heads. Nothing to do with the prem.

Yes I'm aware of that.

My point was, despite promotion to the PL (if it happens) , their financial issues aren't going to just disappear & allow them to be able to spunk X millions, and Fulham have just proven that spending a hundred million doesn't necessarily equate PL survival & (for Villa) could add to their woes if they don't stay up.

He wouldn't go to Man City. He strikes me as a guy who wants to play, loves football, and is not motivated by a big contract (vs. playing time). I doubt he would go if Villa get promoted but would be surprised if he didn't move on if they don't.

Hard to know what they’ll do when offered ridiculous wages.

Dean Smith has warned clubs Jack Grealish will cost a fortune but the Aston Villa boss insisted he has never thought about losing his captain.

Villa face Derby in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final at Wembley on Monday, live on talkSPORT.

Grealish would be expected to leave if Villa lose the £170million showdown despite signing a new five-year contract last September.

Tottenham were interested last year after Villa's play-off final defeat to Fulham but failed to agree a fee and Smith is not contemplating selling his star.

He said: “If we don't go up he'll cost someone a hell of a lot of money if they want to buy him. For me he is committed to Aston Villa and we've not even spoken about it otherwise.

“He's signed a brand new contract at the start of the season, committing himself to the football club.

“He loves Aston Villa and he'll want nothing more than to get promoted with Aston Villa.”

Villa will probably come up and he’ll stay, but if they lose against Derby on Monday he’ll be a very silly boy it he allows Villa to hold him back by asking for silly money for him.

He’s too good for the championship but I’ve seen £60-70m being thrown around by Villa fans and nobody is going to pay that. As much as he might love Villa he absolutely needs to make clear in the summer he needs to leave and play in the Premier League / Champions League.
