That was my first thought. Villa can maintain some sort of “we didn’t just accept the first bid that came in, we tried as hard as we could to keep him” look about them.

Seems you are right. I thought I read it but it was just John Percy's tweet (he's very reliable but could have been opinion here). Interesting to see how it pans out in the morning. £25m sounds about right all things considered.

My guess is rejected first thing and then a fee gets agreed around lunch time.

Every other club makes transfers look easy, yet we always hear how difficult it is, hard times, agents playing games - more of the spin. Like that we’ll do signings early, have a special relationship with Madrid blah blah blah.
Make a championship player, is supposed to now be the second coming to take us to winning things - i’m Always positive, but this is a joke.... we haven’t won anything in years, every single team has strengthened, and now we experience ever to win with the same squad starting the season buggered from the World Cup... and Grealish is supposed to be the shining light on that?

I think at the end of last season, most would have agreed that the priority for us was someone who can take the pressure off of Eriksen in the creative department.
Grealish could do that, so whilst it might not be the marquee signing we all hoped for when there were talks of £150M, Grealish does fall into line with the profile of players that have gone on to be successful at Spurs.
Young, with potential, and off of the big boys radar.
Just wonder what percentage of this is levy signing vs Poch signing.
