It's pretty clear that Levy's tactics have failed us on this occasion. The only positive I can see is that it surely means we'll have to push a little harder to bring in other, possibly more high profile, targets.

An optimist would say that this is because we've secured a better target.

But we all know that is almost certainly bollocks.

Appreciate the info @Trix

Optimistic part of me hopes it’s dead because our primary target has been secured?

Realistic part assumes we dicked them around for too long. Ridiculous if so.

Honestly we fucking deserve this low for trying to squeeze every ounce of blood out of villa when they were begging for a transplant themselves. Was pathetic and we got what we deserve.

Overplayed our hand yet again it seems. So tired of this shit at this point. Signing Jack Grealish for a club of our standing should not be this difficult.

It really is laughable that we've seemingly spent pretty much the whole window trying to sign a player from the championship and failed. Absolutely Comical...

SHIT - SHOW!! Let's not worry until the transfer window closes(in the most sarcastic voice possible).. There's an old time saying about a horse and a stable door which springs to mind.

210 pages on this guy. Bloody hell what a waste of our collective energy. Damn shame we couldn’t get this over the line.

I'm as optimistic as they come, but with JJ saying grealish coming to us is out of his control because of the owners, and Gard's saying zaha isn't happening, who on earth are we going to sign?

No one. We have to accept even with a state of the art stadium, CL etc etc we still fail to get signings over the line, whether this is Levy or just financial constraints, it’s just frustrating.

I know we need to ‘reserve judgement’ until then end of the window but if we sign no one it makes the whole transfer window a farce.

Any way of not seeing the pinch of salt section, just winds me up lol

Not that everyone wanted Grealish, not sure where the positivity is going to come from now. This was our only genuine link (outside of what we read on this forum) to any player in the press.

Guess this is thread fin.

I'm sorry, it may well get better and we could quite possibly sign a couple of good players before the window closes, however, at this moment, the fact is that this transfer window has been fucking embarrassing and one of the most disappointing in recent memory.

It better improve soon because we're leaving it incredibly late, once again I might add. God help us if it doesn't, that would be entirely unacceptable.

IF!! Henry goes there, I'd be amazed if he hasn't been told he will have money to spend. Just hope that all the financials were agreed before this investment rocked up.
At a guess I'd say if its not announced by the end of this week, deals dead.

So when do I get a blue background?

I have to question how much we really wanted him now. It really was right there on a plate at one point. For whatever reason we just wouldn't pull the trigger.

Soo true. Should really have been a formality, broke second tier club and player apparently keen to come and we still cant get it over the line.

Don't feel too dejected about this thread, it's really should be good for another few hours levy bashing

We'll soon see, won't we.

If we sign a new central/attacking midfielder who is better than Grealish then I'm sure we'll quickly forget about this, but I cannot see that happening.

It's irrelevant whether you think Grealish would've been a good signing or not. The deeply frustrating thing here is Levy playing silly bollocks and sticking the boot into a club on it's arse to try and save pennies on what should've been a straightforward deal. His approach to the transfer window simply isn't effective anymore. Football is dripping with money and his tactics of bullying and brinkmanship are outdated. He's done a huge amount of good for the club but the reality is we're never going to be truly effective in the transfer window with him conducting business.
