You are kidding. Someone who was supposedly ready for England as 3rd choice for us? At least 2nd choice and shift Vorm and replace with a decent young keeper - HG or otherwise.

At 33 would he rather be 2nd fiddle at Burnley or 3rd choice at a Champions League club? Gazzaniga went from being first choice on loan at Rayo Vallecano to our 3rd choice keeper. I'm sure he was told that he'd step up with an aging Vorm soon coming to an end and that Heaton would or could challenge it out with him for 2nd spot.

Also you mentioned why would Heaton take a step down. Vorm was happy to go from starting GK at Swansea to backup at Spurs, who's to say Heston wouldn't be happy to do the same?

Doesn’t really seem a big deal to me it’s not as if gazzaniga’s a world class or hugely experienced keeper he’s just average, playing someone from the youth team doesn’t mean the sky falls in. In fact gazzaniga fucked up in his only appearance for us but was lucky Zaha missed an open goal so he got away with it

So you remember his fuck up, but don’t remember the rest of his match. I wouldn’t go fully sure on it, but believe he was still one our best players that day. Plus he had to be called on, if a youth player had been chucked in and cost us, it could damage the kids future.

How often is a 3rd choice keeper needed? Just give it to Freeman, Glover, De Bie or whoever. It really doesn't matter. At all. It's dumb as fuck to use 3 of 17 slots on keepers.

Where did I say I didn’t remember the rest of his match? He was fine other than that mistake. Plenty of experienced keepers have been ruined by one mistake too Paul Robinson ring a bell?

I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal

Stop spamming the thread with BS FFS take it to Spurs chat

It’s not a sense spamming it, if someone says I don’t want him then fair enough, but to keep banging the same drum (3rd choice keeper) in my eyes just don't understand the importance of having a keeper that is good enough. The one position on a football field that’s more important than any other is the keeper.

If a striker fails to score, there’s a chance someone else might get the goals. If a keeper is shit your most likely be in a relegation battle.

yes not very often they get used, but would hate to have to rely on 1 because we had to make the numbers up on HG.

anyway last I will say on the subject, everyone I've argued this point with has moaned they don't want Grealish, because of their reasons (mainly he isn't high profile enough for them). don't quote me on this post unless you can prove me wrong about the importance of a reliable keeper.

He's played two pre season games for Villa and has been the best player on the pitch for both games.

Surely a fee has to be agreed soon?

apparently it has all been agreed if I read the ITK from lately correctly, it's a case of when Villa having a date to receive the 1st payment. hopefully before Sunday

I struggle to believe that a fee has been agreed if he's still being pick and playing in pre-season matches...surely not?

What if he picked up an injury last night?

He's played against Kidderminster and Walsall, if he wasn't the best player on the pitch, sometime would be very, very wrong.

Personally I hope we string it out a bit more, as whether we can manage to prise a player from a nigh-on bankrupt Championship club before the window closes is the type of epic saga you tell the grand kids..

The deal has not been finalised but it's as good as. All about structure and how/when it's paid now.

Grealish is better participating in pre season than not, as far as him being ready for us is concerned.

if he picked up a serious injury then Villa won't get any payments. they know they are losing him, and perhaps giving him the chance to say bye on the pitch, and while he is playing in matches that are not usually to physical he is getting match fit.

I was thinking that the stand out performances might encourage someone else to come in for him if we haven't tied it up - but from what Trix is saying, maybe that won't be the case.
