See, this is what happens when all of the Shelvey-to-Spurs rumours dry up....we are left with Grealish-to-Spurs.

We’ve Dier, Dembele, Alli and Wanyama to go toe to toe with the opposition. Being aggressive and kicking someone are two completely different things. Grealish is the latter, an accident waiting to happen.

I would like to have that option available so that people don't take liberty with us.

Not sure why he's even being debated, Would he get in the team ahead of Winks? No, Eriksen? No, Dele? No therefore he's not worthwhile depth. Think people just wanted to see a transfer happen not matter whether it actually improves the team or not.

They love it.

Mr Blobby to sign for Spurs on a three year contract?

They'd bemoan the signing but would still equally enjoy the "Is Mr Blobby an upgrade on Llorente?" debate .

Yeah but its been said before we'll struggle to sign players better than Eriksen and Dele. I think we'd sign him as a prospect that we could develop over the next 18 months and hopefully realise his talent.

Obviously saying that, the price is too high if true but I would think there is room for quite a bit of negotiation.

i've had this argument with mates, shall we sign shaqiri? I say emphatically no, well he's better than Sissoko. As if the only fucking logic is if a player is better than our worst.

Right but there's a gap between Grealish and Winks and a gap between Winks then Eriksen and Dele.

Seems like there is a gap now sure because Winks plays in a better team with a better manager and better style of football.

Different positions anyway.

Spoke to my mate today who has a very good contact at Villa. He told me there has been quite a lot of interest in Grealish from Premier league clubs but he hasn't heard anything regarding anything formal from us as yet from either side..

What he did say though is the word behind the scenes is that Jack has matured immensely over the last 12-18 months. There was a lot of concern over his mentality and his desire to focus his talent in the right direction. He has really turned a corner though as far as his professionalism is concerned, which was the only thing they felt would stop him going all the way to the very top.

I honestly don't know much about him off the pitch, I just see him with his socks and think he looks like a bit of a bellend (like Tom Davies at Everton).

Jack is good player but isn’t good enough to take us to the next level. Poch would make him even better no doubt but surely there is better out there for the price Villa would want.

Have heard exactly the same as Trix, also the fact he has been as effective on the pitch as Cairney at Fulham. Both of these would be a good punt for us as an alternative midfield option. Could be Dele Mark II albeit a lot more expensive. Less transition from the Championship than say the Erevidise or Ligue 1.

I'd rather see Maddison at Spurs, than Grealish.

Agreed. Maddison had 14 goals and 8 assists in the championship last year, Grealish 3 goals and 6 assists. Whilst that's not the whole story, and it sounds like Grealish has progressed, I think Maddison is a step up in quality.

Maddison played twice as much as Grealish last season tbf.

Grealish is a lot better than here realise, he has improved a lot this season and some of his play has been a joy to watch.

Comparisons with Winks are poor, they play different positions. He would come as an understudy to Eriksen. Im not super keen for the signing, but I am not against it. He is way too good for the championship right now. Whoever he signs for I think he will surprise a lot of people.
