Let's be honest, Chelsea aren't attracting any players right now, especially not young, english players after the way things have gone for Barkley and Drinkwater.

Chelsea need to focus on bringing through their quality youngsters and desperately hoping they don't lose their established stars, e.g. Kante, Hazard etc.

Yup - I know it's been said but he'd have to be truly insane to go there. Let's face it, Loftus-Cheek (as an aside, if there was any chance of us getting him we should go all out, but that's not happening) looks totally class and while different in style, they'd likely be competing for the same position.

Likely agent talk I'd say - I don't buy the year loan back either, it just wouldn't make sense for a player who looks ready for the step up

Could come up with 10 hypothetically good reasons why he should sign for Spurs and 5 for that other mob. Most could be counter argued. I’m going to stick with Trix on this one.

As a great man once said "Chelsea my arse"
Time to start working on a song for Jack I reckon.

This guy looks like someone West ham would sign, not convinced he is worth the money.
I can see him becoming Tommy Carroll 2.0 - few decent games, overall average player and not good enough for top 4 team.
Not optimistic BUT I would like to be proved wrong.

I would have thought that Grealish would be happier to come to us now, than be loaned back to Villa for another season.

Not according to Villa fans, most think he doesn't want to move at all and that he is Villa through and through,

You just know that if this deal falls through the people complaining about trying to sign him are the same people that will complain that we 'couldn't even sign Grealish'

And if we’d just finished 6th two years in a row (ie. missing our targets the same way Villa have), I’d expect him to leave and wouldn’t begrudge him his move at all.
I think Villa need the money as well though so it's as much a case that they need to sell rather than the player wants to leave

Be prepared to be proved wrong then:), I really believe he is too good for West Ham and genuinely think he is worth the reported money.
I must admit that I wanted us to buy him two years ago but he wanted to stay at Villa, I genuinely believe a combination of his off field shenanigans and Villa loyalty is why he isn't playing at a higher club already not because of his ability.

Really don't understand the negativity. Let Pochettino and staff work on him and his conditioning and I think he'll be a tidy player.

I've only watched him this season when he was on tele as a by-product of wanting to watch Onomah, but Grealish always impressed me when I actually paid attention to him. I'm not going to pretend to judge to know if he would be good enough for us, but he looked quality in that Villa team and far too good for the Championship.

I'm all for signing him up but he'll have his work cut out to get a lot of game time for us too. I don't see that as a problem though because he strikes me as a battler who has plenty of confidence in his ability. If he's up for that type of challenge i think it ticks a lot of the boxes that Poch looks for in a player.

To be fair. There's a difference.

Would be lamenting the fact we weren't able to sign him rather than the fact we didn't actually sign him. Some people may be happy if we don't get Grealish, but can still be critical of our recruitment in that we couldn't even attract a player from the Championship for example.

Does anyone think Poch sees Grealish as a centre midfielder in the long terms ?

Whenever I've watched him I've always thought he'd do well centrally.
Always wants to get involved and always on the go.
I can see him attacking the space in order to get from front to back quickly.

Pochettino has commented that only Sissoko does this so I would think that was Poch's first priority. Get someone in who can do this but without the technical deficiencies.

But I also think his flexibility is a big plus as he should be able to play several positions.

The most concerning thing about this transfer for me is that we're going to have to start treating The Star as a reliable transfer source.
