I think the way he dribbles and uses the outside of the boot is a little Bale-esque. Crossing too. Haven’t seen that burst of pace or any long shots in the same vein though. But potentially further developed than Bale was for us at the same age. I’m quite excited to see how it pans out.

Not sure if it’s because tall wingers are quite unusual, but he reminds me a little bit of Joaquin.

Looks pretty raw, and probably quite far off top 6 standard atm, but you can see with his physique and technical ability that his ceiling as a footballer is pretty high.

For the price quoted, it’s a no brainier.
Bloody hell, that's a blast from the past! There was a version of Championship Manager in which he and Vicente would sort your wings out for years.

For clarity, because there are quite a few statements in there, the bolded text is the part of your post I disagree with. I think Bale looked much more ready for first team football even signing for us as a 17 year old than this chap does currently.

Hope he turns out to be a great player if and when we do sign Clarke, though.

That's a bold [read: insane] statement, BBLG: let's see if it pays off for you.

I can see why you'd come to that conclusion, and I am nothing but ecstatic about Ndombele (or, will be should we sign him), but I just think this kid has once in a generation potential.

You're nailing your balls to the mast early on this one bblg.
I think you might be right in some way though. I'm excited about this kid too.

Yeah I can imagine this coming back to bite me in the arse but I I decided I wanted Clarke to sign for us the first time I saw him play back in mid-season.

Must be said that I also wanted Soldado, Rebrov, Huerlho Gomes, Hutton, Zamora and Aurier and Sissoko (yes, I'm delighted by his improvement) long before we were linked to any of them too...

Lets hope he doesn't disappear like Bostock then
He has the ability and the physical gifts, it's all about if he can put the hard yards in now. Hopefully our scouts have done a good jobl

I think we should all have faith that this kid has a ton of potential... otherwise Poch would not give his blessing. Also says a lot that there is no loan-back option. From what I can see, he reminds me a little bit of Waddle and Anderton. Should be fascinating to see how he develops over the next three years. I just hope the fans are patient and give him time to adjust.

I agree with the Anderton comparison. This is a brilliant signing. This kid has a high ceiling.

Really excited by this signing. Definitely will have the opportunity to be brought along slowly, and given his age, that's perfect. But, when you look at him, he really is a different type of player than what we can offer. Almost like a blend of Son and Moura with his footwork but burst of pace/physicality. Makes for a really intriguing talent, overall.

Tottenham close in on £8.5m move for Leeds teenager Jack Clarke with Mauricio Pochettino determined to land winger this summer
  • Tottenham are close to finalising a deal to bring in Leeds winger Jack Clarke
  • Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add to his squad after two windows of inactivity
  • Leeds want to keep Clarke but look set to admit defeat in an £8.5million switch
Tottenham are close to finalising a move for Leeds United winger Jack Clarke this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is a real admirer of the 18-year-old and he finally looks set to land a key target with the two clubs close to agreeing an £8.5million deal.

Clarke impressed during his debut campaign for Leeds as he went on to make 25 appearances under Marcelo Bielsa before the play-off semi-final defeat by Derby County.

Sportsmail understands the two clubs are on the verge of finalising a deal worth around £8.5m for Clarke.

He is set to be part of Spurs’ first-team plans rather than go out on loan next season. Clarke has come through the academy in Yorkshire and is well liked among the supporters.

But a move to Tottenham, who are looking for new recruits following defeat in the Champions League final, is proving too difficult to turn down for the youngster.

Tottenham were keen on bringing him in in January but were unable to get him out of Elland Road as Leeds pushed for promotion to the Premier League.

Nathan Salt is a good name for a Journo. I approve of this story.

Injuries, rotation etc over a 50-60 game season. He'll get loads of time.

It'll be players like him who will give us relief in February/March we didn't have this season.
It’s this pervy nonsense that’s prevented us from signing anyone for so long

I’m not convinced of that, with Sessegnon and possibly Lo Celso coming, along with the other 5 AMs we currently have I don’t see much playing time for him next season.

Could have said the same about Lennon when he signed. He only got match time because Wayne routledge got injured and he came in and made an impact. This lad could displace someone almost by chance.

I am very happy with this signing if it goes through.
