Not really new but seems like we're in for a lot of different numbers on this deal.

Hasn't the most widely reported one been £8.5m plus bonuses? £3m-worth of bonuses seems reasonable (note the "could rise to").

Yup, the "fee in the region of £10m" that the experienced Leeds writer suggested could easily be £8.5m. Not sure I've seen anything different really.

It really is. He might be turn out to be more Wayne Routledge than Aaron Lennon but i'm excited to find out either way.
The thing is Routledge could have become a much better player under Poch. That's why I get more excited by young signings now we have the right manager to develop them.

Is there any reason that we know of why JC hasn't been capped any any youth level for England (according to Wiki)?

Not saying this is a question on his ability but it just seems odd given there is an under 21s/20s/19s/18s/17s etc.

Probably just better players at the time

Routledge was also fantastic that pre-season we got him then got injured and was unlucky Lennon emerged,

He was a lot better than he showed I feel and maybe lost a bit of motivation after missing his chance with us.

Got injured in the first game against Pompey I think. No idea why I remember that!

Anyone photoshopped him into a spurs jersey yet, need to send it to rather sad Leeds supporting m8?

4th Official was good with ITK in years gone by (predominantly Everton) and Hay is ex-Yorkshire Evening Post who mostly only has the Clarke story on the go at the moment. Probably nothing, could be alluding to something about to break? We shall see.

I was well excited when we got him, he was a lower cost version of another winger who was shit hot at time that we were linked with but his name evades me at the moment, but he still had much potential of his own and so good at Palace and then he gets injured in first game for us - typical at the time!

That brings back memories of the Peace Cup and that ridiculous Mounir El Hamdoui skill.

I wonder if Poch thinks he can mould Clarke into a highly effective RWB in a 3-3-3-1 formation. Maybe Biesla has told him this lad has an amazing engine and a wicked ‘corridor of doubt’ cross?

EDIT: I’m not saying stick him at RB in a constraining way. Think Bale away at Inter Milan under Harry. Think Anderton under Hoddle at France ‘98 for England. Most likely way for Clarke to get in the first XI anytime soon would be as a RWB in an aggressive 3-3-3-1. I can’t see him taking Kane, Son, Dele, Moura, Eriksen’s spots.
