I get what your saying but the key word there is slow it just seems to drag on and if as they do players come and go we always seem to be playing catch up never actually arrive do we that's the most frustrating thing I think.

Comes down to two things, High Expectations and Low Patience. It's not rocket science, we have clearly been doing a fantastic job with the players we have, and we are blessed to have one of the best managers in the world at the head of our team. If we can't be patient and wait for the final push towards our goal of winning the league and trophies, then we shouldn't be supporting a club like Tottenham.

I too have been frustrated at times, however the bigger picture is still a beautiful sight so I generally like to keep that in mind. The things we complain about today will be things we laugh about tomorrow.

It's Chelsea so we are entitled to have a sulk afterwards. Feeling better today. Let's go Palace!

In this situation I just imagine how it would feel to support a club on the cusp of going out of business, or actually has gone out of business. Puts things into perspective, especially if you remember where we came from in mid table obscurity.

We haven't got the oilgarch owners who will fund overnight success. It has been a 'project' to quote Poch, one that he himself has stated we are ahead of schedule (bar the stadium).

Moments like last night do hurt, but when you think back to how we used to be, how far we've come and how Spurs a decade ago would have lost last night with a whimper (and with a depleted squad) then you can actually keep your head help up high.

I'm proud of this club, this manager, and this squad of players (yes even Llorente).

And not to be that guy, but never compare it to actual depression. I have it on and off, and you know what? Football lets me escape every time we step on the pitch, or even watching other team's matches.

This kind of attitude is embarrassing.

Let's look at a few other Clubs who have been in and around us over the years.

Everton, Newcastle, even Aston Villa. We're miles a head of these Clubs. Yes we were ahead in the Redknapp era but we've kicked on so much these Clubs are an after thought to us now.

We are competing with the top Clubs on a regular basis.

Let other fans take the piss, it's part of what football is all about but our time is coming and I think most fans who have a modicum of intelligence recognise our remarkable progress but have a hard time actually praising us and will continue to use this stick to beat us with.

Nothing depressing about it, it's exciting thinking about the future. Yes the stadium debacle has been very frustrating but the future looks amazing in my eyes.

Some have to show a bit more patience and believe.

Agree but clubs dont build success anymore they simply buy it quickly and there are very few examples of clubs that arent in the top 4 big spenders ever winning anything since the PL began.
Its very difficult, impossible imo, to dislodge those that splash the cash to the point of winning something.
Since the pl began its been those that spend the most win it 99% of the time. Theres odd examples but they are rare.
Liverpool spent the most in a long while and they are top for the first time in a long while.
The League cup now has money bags 1 and money bags 2 in the final. Its been won by the big rich clubs, bar the odd exception, for decades and its the same with the FA Cup.
Now Man City have money as well as Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool its going to be unlikely we'll ever win anything. Even Arsenal are finding it hard to compete with them now.
I think we are doing the best we can with how the club is run but now we are in this position (top 4, cl football, fantastoc players and a new stadium) now is the time to cement that position and strengthen the squad with real winners. Top draw players and keep those we have.
You saw last night the difference between Rose and Davies. We used to have that up both wings with Walker. Now we dont.
It will be a crime if this squad is watered down so we fade away having achieved nothing but top 4 and we find ourselves mid table in a half filled 62k stadium.
The time to spend big, but wisely, is now or risk losing Toby, Eriksen and even Poch.
Im not saying get in debt and do a Leeds but we are a big club, time we started acting like it.

Agree with most of that, but not sure we can spend big right now without getting into debt.

DL could have only dreamed we would be in the CL whilst away from the Lane and the obvious transfer restrictions.

This is a long term plan that foolishly or not i personally buy into, call me a mug, but i truly believe that once we move into the new Lane and everything falls into place, we will spend and be a major force.

And btw, JJ this week hinted its Poch that is not spending the funds that DL has made available, believe what you want.

IMHO There is nothing to discuss. A lot of fans are too soft and need to toughen up a little. We are not in the position to be winning titles or cups yet, for multiple reasons. Too many expectations are being put on our team/club due to the fact that we have over achieved for the good part of 4 years now. We are not ready to take that next step into the elite bracket of clubs. We will be in 3-5 years, but we simply aren't now.

Either you can face that reality and enjoy the slow but sustainable progression of our club or f*** off and support another team. Simples.

(Not aimed at you, just the general bitching and moaning that goes on these days.)
The progression has finished.

Seems to me nobody has patience, but I'm waiting until at least two full seasons in the new ground with the revenue and see how that goes.

People need to remember we're not in there yet, and still playing at Wembley. That is draining for us and the players alike. Yet we're still 3rd with a gap on 4th.

Threads like this either give us a chance to wallow in the pit of misery or search for the positives.

If anyone needs me this morning I’m in the pit.
I for one am going to actually do some work today instead of paying attention to football and being in here...

@Spurrific Why not bitch and moan some more instead of throwing around spam ratings for those of us who have a pair between our legs?

I don't get it...

I think its one of the most EXCITING time to be a Spurs Fan...

1. we got a new stadium, heck we might not move into it this season... but 2 seasons away is the norm for a redevelopment.
2. we are doing so well in the league for haven't spent ZERO in the summer transfer window, and the current window.
3. we are still in the champions league, heck the very fact we are now a champions league side is exciting enough
4. fine, we lost to chelsea, but we made a cup semi final losing on penalties, no shame there.
5. we have a great team, a great coach, and a young squad with bags of potential.

happy times to be a Spurs fan... try supporting west ham. or even everton.

Get a grip, we’re third in the league and in the next rounds of Champions League and FA Cup and just lost semi final of League Cup.

Do you think Liverpool would cope without Salah, Mane and Firminio? United without Rashford, Pogba and Lukaku?

Yes we’ve been unlucky with injuries, all of which have come at the wrong time but we’ll finish top four again despite the stadium issues and the fact we didn’t buy anyone and go into our world class stadium in good shape next season!

I agree we aren't elite yet.

I don't necessarily think we are 3-5 years off though. We're 2-3 quality signings off.

Another thing too. I've seen a lot of Spurs fans have a go at those who want to actually support the team. I will be behind whoever puts on the shirt at kick off. But apparently that makes me a happy clapper fan? I can see we need incomings, maybe lessen the intensity in training too when it gets to the festive period and what not.

Actually in commentary (I think in Fulham game) I heard we hadn't had a full week between games since August/September! Think that needs to be taken into account. That has to have an affect on the players that play every single game.

Really? Guess you’re about 14/15? And have only been a fan for 4-5 years?

You should have tried being fan for most of the nineties mate. Season over by the end of feb when it was mathematically impossible to get a uefa cup place. Going out in the early rounds of the domestic cups most years. Relying on Steffen Iversen for a bit of magic in turgid matches against other shit mid table teams. Because we ourselves were a shit mid table team with no plan for the future, nothing coming through the academy, relying on aging rejects from top teams of the time like Ginola and Ovyind Leonhardsen. All while our ‘rivals’ in Arsenal were winnng leagues buying superstars and competing in Europe.

Now that was depressing.

This is the best team, best manager and most sustained period of high level performances i’ve known in my lifetime. I fail to see how losing one off matches against teams with much greater resources than us while our top 3 scorers are out is ‘depressing’.

Couldn't disagree more, (love your optimism tho) fighting for our lives to stay up was more exciting than winning any cup. I had a ball! And our away fans as today were fantastic. Watching a game with a pint and the smell of pipe tobacco . yum
