If I remember rightly he kissed our badge when he scored against Chelsea when we beat them in the League cup.

Like its said above, he worked with the younger players when he was still playing for us. When he retired he went to Uraguay and worked with a local prem team there, coaching the youth team. He did his badges and came back with Wise. Its been a learning process since then. He was a very good player with very good technique. He's very chatty and has an open character. I dont see any reason why he wouldn't be a good coach.

If memory serves he played a blinder but he didn't score in that game and I remember him saying he was gutted that he couldn't get on the scoresheet.

Scorrers were Iverson, Sherwood, Sheringham, Davies and Rebrov

Poyet will be very good. He knows what it takes to win in the Premiership as a player. He has drive and is reportedly a very good coach. I expect him to be very active on the training pitch as well as being able to relate what Ramos is saying. To even suggest he will just be a translator seems daft. Let's just see how it works out, I am excited to see some changes to our side and whether Ramos and Poyet can stamp their style on our game quickly.

Has anyone heard Poyet speaking English recently? I rememebr when he played for us his accent was one of the hardest to understand. He speaks good English, but it just doesn't sound like English.

Yea I heard him about a month ago on Sky after Leeds gave someone a pasting.

He was as clear as day :)

Wasn't he subbed late doors and went off the pitch jumping up and down like a loon, punching the air and celebrating like crazy? That's how I remember it, but I could be completely wrong. Twas an emotional night.

he can't be any worse than CH, plus i wouldn't have thought they would be paying Gus as much money as they will be if he doesn't have other skills rather than a translator.

Can anyone shed light on whether Gus and Ramos know each other from anywhere - seems strange if they don't?

Personally I don't vare what role Poyet is going to do at the club. Either Ramos has requested him personally or somebody in the club thinks he will be good to have on the training pitch or dressing room. At the end of the day the buck will stop with Ramos and his word will be final. People over the last few days have pretty much slagged everyone and everything spurs, we need to get behind the club and let Ramos do his job. So what if he cant speak english and needs an interpreter, at the end of the day he wont take shit from any player and they wont get in the team just because of the name on the back of their shirt. This is what we need so when people have a shit game he drops them and they dont get back in until he feels they merit it. Ultimately this will hopefully make the players push themselves harder for their shirt which can only be good for OUR club.

Something no one has pointed out as well is the fact he was a class central midfielder and just might get the best out of the likes of Jenas

I believe Poyet was appointed to further dilute the level of responsibility held by each member of staff in the club. Yay for having another person to blame our future failures on.

No they were introduced to each other near the time Sevilla played Woolwich in the CL earlier in the season aparently by a mutual acquaintance Tony Jimenez who is Ramos' english agent. That is just hear say though. They have never worked together in club football but Ramos would have been aware of him as a player as he played in spain for Zaragoza.

His main job initially will be the face for the media until Ramos's English is up to scratch

tbh I wouldn't have minded Jol as assistant manager to Ramos. I guess that would've undermined some of Ramos' authority, though...

Hi all, I don`t post a lot on here, but to be honest, I`m more pleased with the signing of Gus than of ramos, I think it could be the jewel in the change of coaching staff
