As of Saturday morning, the number of his players still involved even at this late stage of the tournament across three different squads totalled nine. He even had two potential national captains in Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane in contention to lift the trophy

Lol silly article really, I don't see how much of that is to do with pochettino we have always had talented players through out the years.

One of Spurs' traditional weaknesses is that we've often had a squad full of talented players but haven't got the mentality or the tactical awareness to make the most of their talent. Pochettino's strength is that the output from his Spurs team is now greater than the sum of its individual players, which is what makes him special.

And what has that got to do with the world cup? There are plenty of great managers coaches in it. we know poch is a great coach and if he didn't get the best out of 'our' players we have then there would be something wrong!!!

Spurs are both the most represented club in terms of players still at the World Cup going into the semis...

Spurs 9
Chelsea 7
Man City 7
Man Utd 7
Barcelona 4
Liverpool 4
Monaco 4
Paris St Germain 4
Marseille 3
Real Madrid 3
Atletico Madrid 3
Inter Milan 2
Juventus 2
Leicester 2

And Spurs players have also scored the joint most goals of any club at the World Cup...

Spurs - 11
PSG - 11
Barcelona - 10
Real Madrid - 10
Atletico Madrid - 7
Man Utd - 7
Man City - 6
Chelsea - 4
Liverpool - 4
Villarreal - 4
Besiktas - 3
Leicester - 3
Sunderland - 3
Zenit St Petersburg - 3
Borussia Dortmund - 2
CSKA Moscow - 2
Juventus - 2
RB Leipzig - 2
Real Betis - 2
Werder Bremen - 2

I’d say he’s been fairly influential

I think above all else the mental strength of our players has shown on the big stage. I'm not sure our players of the past wouldn't have bottled penalties. Even though we haven't gone to penalties under Poch I feel he has prepared our players to handle situations they're not used too. So I think his influence has shown particularly for England.

When Sky bang on about our lack of experience, not won anything etc next season just laugh. This is our boys on the biggest stage in the world. Some will win, some will lose but most will have played in the later rounds of the World Cup.

It may backfire next seaon with the lack of preseaon but if we keep this lot together we can and will win stuff.

I'm not bothered if we don't buy a single player this window. And that is even if Toby leaves. Maybe a replacement for Moussa if he's off but otherwise I'm well happy.

Don't see Arsenal among those... Surely that's a mistake.... :sneaky:

No excuses next season. They’ve just got Welbeck out there now, cutting the half time oranges. They should come fast out the blocks.

They have City and Chelsea first two games, who both have 7 still out there and had a few through to quarters, could put the cat among the pigeons.

We gonna be knackered at the start of the season. I for one won’t mind if that happens and football comes home

We started off with 12 players at the start of the world cup. Only Real Madrid had more than us.

lol, but I thought the collective attitude of SC's was one of 'Meh, England football - don't give a toss, what's the point for Tottenham players, etc.'...or is because we're (apparently) being managed now as a team, and we're doing well?

I'm just so excited for our boys right now. Really hope either Kane or Lloris are the ones lifting that gorgeous cup next sunday.

What we're seeing now reminds me of how Barceonla were so influential for Spain back in 2010, just that we're spreading it among 3 of the 4 remaining candidates. That's fucking unbelievable!

If you can't see the merits and the influence of Poch on our players then you're blind.

It's also great to see our players are progressing. We did better in the Champions League last season and now we're going that next step in the World Cup. It's only a matter of time before these young players start winning things.

Not sure about the last statement though. Sure we have a strong squad but we must freshen things up a little. I think Winks will start the season in place of Dembele provided he gets through pre-season without any setbacks. But there's definitely a need to add competition in a few positions.

I really don't get this. The players will get a few weeks to rest, they don't need any more than that. I'm not sure why people think athletes need so much time off. Sure they will need to recover but it's better to stay active and keep fitness up than to rest too long. Active recovery is better than rest anyway.
