I voted for 4th, because I want to see Spurs in the CL playing against the best in the world. I'd imagine this would be as thrilling as winning the Carling Cup, particularly if we make it to the knockout stages.

Slavia? Artmedia Bratislava? Dinamo Zagreb (or Bucharest)? Besiktas? Nancy-Lorraine? Sanilav Plovdiv?

Fourth is closer to being first than winning the carling cup is. As far as I'm concerned no matter which team you support you should aspire to be first otherwise whats the point in keeping the score?

Cups should be considered bonuses with the league as our bread and butter. We're a long way from there and IMO futher than we were when under Jol. I'm confident Ramos will put his stamp on the team over the summer and take us where Jol unluckily failed. I haven't eaten Lasagna since & will not until we get to the promised land.
FFS man, everyone and is dog here on this forum aspire to be first, the best, whatever you want to call it, it goes without saying.

The point of keeping the score as you put it is to win things. Yes I agree winning the Carling cup could be seen as a bonus on the way to achieving even greater heights like CL position, but it is still a win, it is still success and its money in the bank.

yep - trophies it is this season as I've already said :)

money comes with trophies just as surely as it does with CL

next season CL or CC - CL

CL or FA cup or UEFA Cup - take the trophy (assuming a top 12 finish)

If we can't win the EPL as almost surely we won't next year, I'd like the FA Cup more than either the Uefa Cup or the LC. The FA Cup was almost our thing up to the 80s, and I'd surely like to see us start winning it repeatedly.

I guess that's it then.

Most fans would take the cups (League, FA, & UEFA) over 4th place.

With 4th place beating the Goat for the runner up spot. I guess the 4th place people will be happy with that because it's building support for tomoorow.

Alas tomorrow never comes.

Sieze the Day.... Sieze the Glory.

We've won more than ar5sena1 for the last 3 seasons this season so let's just milk it for what it's worth while we can.

If Ramos spends our money wisely, and remember there is a lot of it at White Hart Lane, then there will be more trophies to come and perhaps even a 4th or 3rd place to keep the accountants and the stockmarket happy.

I used to love when the team pic came out at the start of the season and there was a trophy sat infront of the players. Replace that image with a cheque and it looks like a Children in Need appeal. Cups for me every day!

I'd take the 4th place over the Carling Cup because long-term if we were able to get more money, then we could buy better players and hopefully win more trophies!

Plus, it would knock out one of the so-called Big 4, and increase our chances of getting better players, making more money and once again winning trophies!

So, to summarise, we need to be in the Champions League in order to win more trophies in the future!

I would happily forego any success for the next 3 seasons if it meant being stable at the top of the table in the medium term. That should set us up nicely for the future and lots of success! Hoorah!

So what team has finished in the top four every year for ages. Has a new stadium that holds squillions. Has the 'best' squad of young talent in the premier league. Has been in the Champions League every year for ages.

So how many trophies have the scum won in the past three years?

Well I'm glad trophies looks like winning - trust me it's better for spurs fans well- being

Cos we havent finished top 4 since 1990 (from memory) and the way things are going I don't see it happening any time soon - we are so short of top 4 ATM it's quite painful to think about

maybe I'll be thinking different different by September - hope so :)

whereas since 1990 we've finished 'top 4' (ie semi finals or better) plenty of times in Cup compettions - winning 3 of them - so it's more fun in the cups :)

There is nothing to match winning something. Ask all those players who won little or nothing as a player or a coach.

it also depends on the trophy...like it or not but winning the carling cup does not strike fear in our rivals, but being a top four club does...this season broke a psychological barrier, silverware makes the players believe they're winners, but a true sign of a team's quality is their league position and spurs are closer to the bottom than the top and losing to the likes of Birmingham 4-1 isn't good enough

Top 4 finish is more important even than a FA Cup win. Money aside, it's a symbol that we really mean business.

The league never lies, whereas a bit of luck goes a long way with cups.

I think most players would agree with this.
