I know it won't happen, but imagine Jansen coming off the bench and scoring a 90th minute winner off his knee.
Would only need a small purple patch that new signings often go through, to tide us over until Son is back.
And by the way Son has been brilliant in Kane's absence previously, so I can't see us making any panic buys.

Pochettino just said we aren’t signing and will look to the academy.

One step nearer
my All Academy Squad
Winks and Skipp starting
in midfield against Fulham
With Foyth
Not Academy but young
and this is an emergency.
Oh happy day.

He didn't explicitly say that we would not be making any signings, at least from the quotes that I can find.

What he did say is that Kane's injury doesn't change our plans for January, which is just toeing the company line. We'll want to project an image of going about our business in the same way we otherwise would have, or else clubs will try to hold us to ransom for a panic signing.

I'm not necessarily optimistic that we'll invest at all, but Poch has consistently hinted at wanting to strengthen the squad and I'm sure that hasn't changed.

We fucked up relying on Dembele & Wanyama. We should have replaced them. What aren't you understanding?

Nobody is saying we should have kept those guys and added players.
To spell it out, this is how our midfield looked in the summer to most:
Wanyama - crocked (may as well not count)
Dembele - semi-crocked (can't depend on)
Sissoko - un-rated crap player (wouldn't ever want to depend on)
Dier - rated by some hated by some (overall a decent option)
Winks - unproven still back from long term injury (would not have been seen as a regular starter)

A team aspiring to win trophies and get CL definitely should have been looking to upgrade on that in the summer.

As it stands now we were correct on 1st two, we didn't foresee Dier's injury but always a possibility, nor did we see Sissoko becoming the beast, Winks has had to do well and has improved as season went on, but in truth without Sissoko coming good it would have been a disaster of a summer doing what Levy done, he either really believed in Sissoko or was a tight ****.

I just saw the interview he said - nothing has changed our mind, it’s a good opportunity for other players and for young academy to show quality.

This all fits in with the way we do things including trying to buy players under the radar if possible but if the price is too high we walk away. We don't need any more Janssen or N'Koudou type signings. Better to try academy players since there is no way we will sign a player and they will able able to play for us within a month

Which I'm not interpreting as him closing the door on any potential signings. He's hardly going to tell the press that he's desperate to bolster the squad or else he'll fuck off to United, as it would undermine our bargaining position.

I don't believe the notion that we had a grand plan to play Sissoko at CM this season. He's had to play there because of Wanyama and Dembele both being unavailable, which everyone could see coming. That's two first-choice midfielders we needed to replace. Winks still has ankle problems and he's done well to play so many games. Dier is the one we couldn't have foreseen being out.

We should have been investing in CM way before now, and now we are paying the price for not doing so. Well, the figurative price, as I doubt we will sign a CM this window.

SShhh, there's me thinking we were unlucky that we only won 1 trophy in 18 years, audere est facere

Completely agree. We lucked out with Sissoko. I’d wager not even Sissoko himself expected to be such a key figure for the side this season and I very much doubt Poch foresaw it. So we lucked out with Sissoko this season. It was no secret in the summer that Wanyama and Dembele could not be relied upon. It’s gone exactly as predicted it would. So again, if we could all predict that, how could the club not?

We are just over half way through the season and the lack of CM reinforcements have been laid out for us all to see now. Winks is our only fit CM for Fulham. That is utterly ridiculous, but it’s only taken a freak injury to Dier and a small knock to Sissoko for us to be woefully exposed. The club simply can’t feign surprise that Wanyama and Dembele have been injured all season. It was obviously going to happen.

Even Winks was coming off a long term ankle injury. So Dier was practically the only reliable proven CM we had going into the new season.

The club only have themselves to blame, it’s hardly like we had 5 Frank Lampards in CM who never get injured and it’s an unprecedented injury crisis.

Talk that Sissoko could be out for a month with his groin strain.
Might mean a re-think re Dembele? We may have to forego a transfer fee and keep him til the summer

Poch is not going to say anything one way or the other.

If a doable deal arises I'm sure we'll be looking to do something.

But I don't think we're going to publicly announce our desperation to make signings.

It's pretty obvious we're short in crucial areas of the pitch though.

Poch is clearly playing the game. On Sunday maybe when his guard was down a little he said that if Kane injury is serious then we have a massive problem to fix.

Wonder was Dier back in full training today? Think the lads had Monday and Tuesday off and were hopefully back at it today, full of good cheer ;)

The Physio Room has Sissoko out until 23rd February. Dier only returning to training on 20 January apparently. We're fucked.
