We have such depth now that there is no need to risk players or rush them back. Sessegnon will benefit from a 4 week Poch pre-season and then come into contention second half of September after the International break. One of the main reasons we beat Villa was our superior fitness and last 10 minutes they could not match out power and pace and just caved in.

I keep on banging on about it, but it just shows the importance of a preseason and especially a Poch driven preseason, which we know are harder than most teams. I know Villa had lots of championship players still in their team but they also had a lot of players new to the league. Both mentally and physically it’s a different beast to anywhere else. Even more so when playing one of the top teams like us.

Foyth fails to make the Argentina squad, so presumably out until at least after the international break.

Dier also injured now.
Jesus Christ, it was probably early to expect him having too much to offer this weekend, but it's just one thing after another for him.

More than this shite around Poch the crazy numbers of injuries we are getting is most concerning. Many players seem unable to get back to things without picking up knocks or tweaks again.

All bad luck or possibly something to do with our training methods?

We still have the international break to survive any more injuries ! Its actually a joke how frequently we get injuries & someone needs to address this to Poch

You could forgive the injuries some what when we had such an aggressive style of play. You could see the risk and reward of pushing players in training. But when our play has been so laboured recently and we’re still picking up injuries the training and recovery plans need to be assessed. We’re going to be patching together match days squads all season again otherwise.

Chicken or egg I suppose, are we also so laboured because our players can’t get to the fitness levels they once could?
