Just read it.

Thought it was quite funny to be honest.

Who can you laugh at if you cant laugh at yourselves?

Jonathan Liew always writes his stuff pessimistically tongue-in-cheek. He did so too when he called out Jamie Vardy for being a racist.

The article is written as a joke. The Independent is a watered down online only paper nowadays, so I wouldn't view them as anything to take offence to.

I agree with you fully as a general rule.
I think this wasn't really that funny. I thought a funny article would aim at provoking laughter. :bored:

@Everlasting Seconds Grow up, appreciate the creativity that went into it and that we still have a free(ish) internet where this kind of thing can be published.

Nothing tongue in cheek when Liew who is Asian, called out Vardy
Jamie Vardy said:
Jap, Yo Jap. Walk on. Walk on . . . oi, walk on. Yeah you . . . Jap. Walk on.”.
That actually is racism, if dude said that to my wife I'd have hit him with my car

Must admit it made me smile but luckily no-one was looking. I just take stuff like that with a pinch of salt. Let's hope we have the last laugh and go through.

Yep most of the top journalists on the paper left when they went online. They were used to going out, interviewing people and attempting to find the facts about stories rather than sit and trawl through what others have said to find an angle to spin. Shame as it used to be a very good paper

I really enjoyed it, but then I've enjoyed his prior articles too (specifically one about the enigma that is Moussa Sissoko).

Maybe I just get his humour. I got triggered by a gif on MOTD recently FFS (when OGS signed a new deal at Utd, and they are laughing at Poch like he was begging for the job), so I can see how certain things can wind people up in the right conditions.

TC will be pleased to hear this author won a sports writer award recently!

It’s a decent piss take- the Skipp Juventus deal is classic transfer twattery that happens from time to time

His FB post commenting on the issue was written with some jest. The point I am making is that tongue-in-cheek is his usual writing style.

It also had a lot to do with the extra work being lumped onto them via social media
