First one since Madrid away. Any feedback appreciated x

If you only knew what I am going through… I finished work on 28th June at 4pm and started to go home. Mrs Jim is 39 weeks pregnant and can only waddle about. We were also waiting for contracts to be exchanged so that we could move out of this poky flat into our dream house. You could say I had a fair bit on my mind. In fact if I am honest, I was mega stressed. Work was shit and my life was filled with uncertainty. One thing I was sure of however, was that Spurs needed someone to take pre season training. And it would probably be for the best if that someone was not Tim Sherwood.

Fast forward to July 3rd and nothing had changed. Missus was still rotund and rather miserable, no contracts exchanged on properties and I was a a moody ****. I had spent the preceding days at home glued to my laptop. Talking crap on twitter and Spurs Community impatiently waiting. And finally, something that I had been looking forward to for weeks happened, Tottenham officially announced Andre Villas-Boas as “Head coach”. Halle-fucking-lujah.

Now don’t get me wrong, I liked Harry and think he did a good job. But I can still like Harry and also think that Daniel Levy has done the right thing in replacing him . For some reason towards the end of last season, as a Spurs fan you had to fall into one of two categories. You either believed Harry was a **** and Levy was the messiah. Or that Levy was a little bald bastard and Harry was the greatest facking football manager in the world. Spurs fans have a knack for fighting against each other for no reason.

After our media darling was sacked, I couldn’t really nail my colours to any mast. I changed my mind like the weather… On the night it happened, Moyes was overwhelming favourite and I resigned myself that it was him. I convinced myself that he would be a great appointment. He would be our Sir Alex, our Wenger if you like. But I just couldn’t bring myself to get excited. Mainly because I don’t like gingers with no eyebrows.

Time went on and ss Spurs fans were fed a conveyor belt of bollocks . One minute it was Martinez, then it was Deschamps, then Ralf Rangick. Some of the mentally ill even claimed that Pep was due to take over. I started to beleive… then I realised that I too was being a mental head. It quickly became a two horsed race between Andre Villas-Boas and Laurent Blanc. I will be honest. Being the decisive type, I made my mind up very quickly, that I could not choose between them.

So AVB was appointed and immedietley the press began to interview plebs outside White Hart Lane. Blah blah Harry, Blah blah he was shit at Chelsea . Blah Blah fucking blah.Where do they get these idiots from? And why are these “fans” hanging around White Hart Lane on a non match day. Strange people plucked to suit an agenda. And it is clear that the knives will be out for AVB as soon as we hit a sticky patch.

I can’t really be bothered to write about AVB’s credentials and his tactics, it’s been done to death and I am bored of hearing about them. What I will say is that I refuse to read to much into his time at Chelsea. He came in with a clear brief and was betrayed by Abramovich when the criticism came his way. And for fans thinking that being a failure at once club means you will fail everywhere, you are wrong.

For the first time in ages, We have a manager that is the envy of European football. And I cannot wait to see what effect he has on our squad. It’s an exciting time to be a Spurs fan, and if things fall into place, we could continue to challenge at the top of the table for years to come. I have not seen any negative reactions from Spurs fans other than those on SSN and Talksport. I feel a bit bad that I chastised Harry for calling people that phoned radio stations idiots.

Anyway I am waffling now.You will be pleased to know that I sit here tonight still stressed out. My missus is crying because she still hasn’t popped, and all my stuff is in boxes because we still haven’t moved . But the one thing that was causing me the most anguish (because I have no control over it) is sorted… And I can confidently say I think Levy has made the right choice. He really has put his (sizeable) bollocks on the line. It’s bold and it’s risky, but it could be bloody brilliant.

So did I, as i did with all his previous Managers. Let's wait until a ball is kicked in anger before annointing the new King shall we?

Too many times in past seasons a flurry of signings along with a new Manager has had us all in dreamland. I'm far too weathered and old now to get too optimistic when new toys that Levy buys are put into the playpen at WHL..................

I tend to agree with you 'Gaz'. I can't "confidently say that I think Levy has made the right choice"...I HOPE he has though.
And for the record, maybe you have painted the Redknapp/Levy 'camps' into too much black and white 'jim'. There are a few shades in-between you know. I didn't want Redknapp to go because I felt his positives outweighed his negatives (just) and I felt that change represented too much risk for the team.
Anyway, nice article 'jim'.....Hope things go better for you and your family in future.

Yeah I agree, however on this site, it was almost impossible to have a decent debate between the Harry out and pro Harry people. It often turned into a slanging match within 5 posts!

No shit?

Nice article Jim. Good luck to you and the missus with the forthcoming arrival and the house move.

[Edit: I may have confused you with jaytheyid with my first comment. If so, I apologise.]

Great blog/post and one that rang true with me on so may levels. Mainly the point about seeing things from both sides; Harry/Levy & Blanc/AVB. Being a football fan things are often portrayed as being black and white but there is a suprising amount of grey that SkySports etc don't cover as it is not emotive enough.

Love reading your stuff. Not the frequency though! ;)
