Just thought I'd share this snippet. Louis van Gaal confirms in interview that he supported Spurs as a kid and Jimmy Greaves was his hero: "Van Gaal said: “I came very close. Very close. Yes. As a little boy I was a fan of Tottenham Hotspur with the team of Jimmy Greaves when he was the champion. Jimmy Greaves was my idol. So I was very close.”

We now have The Poch installed and I guess most of us are reasonably happy about that. But how do folk feel about this - if it was you, hand-on-heart, would you follow your emotional inclination or your wallet? Do you think this makes it worse that he chose United, or doesn't it make any difference?

As a fan you love your club all of your life.

As soon as anyone becomes a professional in football they no longer truly gives a fuck about the team they supported as a boy, like us fans will.

I think Gareth Barry supported Spurs as a boy and had a chance to sign for us but chose Mansiour City and Teddy supported Spurs and left us for Utd.

Us supporters go from boyhood supporters to adult supporters where as a professional wont as other club loyalties come in to place.

Anyway it all depends...

Would I stay at Spurs if Real Madrid came knocking at the door, I doubt it but Id make sure I had a good stint at Spurs.

I would as I couldn't disappoint kids and fans the way other players did to me

I reckon I would stay at Spurs even if the only role they had for me was to regularly masturbate Kyle Naughton.

Just abit of salt to the wound, which still is oh so deep.

But really dont make a difference now, does it? Probably just a media stunt anyway. Atleast I try to convince myself that.

I'm over him, really. The comments were rather unnecessary, though, he's toyed enough with our hearts as it is.

It's a job to these people. Who they supported as kids growing up doesn't matter. That's all.

Well, I guess it's understandable.

I supported Van Gaal until he went to Manure; now I fucking hate him.

His comments don't really tell us how much of a real Spurs fan he was, like most football people in europe, they have a team they have an affiliation with in England, but not one i would imagine that would make them turn down the most famous club on this planet. I also don't believe he chose them over us for the wages, thats us with our heads up are own arse believing its only his salary that seperates us from United, i think you would find it hard to find anyone that would chose us over MU given the choice, and that includes 99% of our ex-players too...imo.

Poch i am happy with, and he may prove to be a better fit, especially with DL.

Snap :) I was also a spurs fan as a kid :)

And yes I would turn down managing spurs as well ;) I love them to much to ruin them anymore. The Wages do look a bit tasty right now though. How does anyone live on anything below 50-70 grand a week these days?
