I'd like us to win the CL, then finish 5th in the league with Chelsea finishing 4th. That would make 5 teams in CL. However, Arsenal will win the Europa, thus eliminating Chelsea from CL. Payback for 2012. It doesnt matter if Arsenal win Europa, i just want to see Chelsea suffer.

In the final of the CL, we beat Liverpool 2-1. Liverpool get a last minute goal that will send Klopp jumping and running around with his stupid grin all over his face, but VAR rules the goal offside.

Its top 4 assuming that this then leads to further CL finals in the future.

A CL final now against either of two teams that have beaten us comfortably already this season is not a better alternative if we don't get another CL final in the next few years because we lose out on money/prestige/transfer targets because of it.

The top four option is the equivalent of twisting whilst the final option is the equivalent of sticking.

I dont want to tell my grandchildren about a one off final, I want to tell them about our finals over a long period of time.

Heart = roll the dice
Head = top 4 finish

What would hurt us as a club more going forward?

Its a fucking hard one as to get to the final of the CL is something i never thought i would see.

fuck it roll the dice before i change my mind.

if we get to the CL Final my nerves will be bad enough without the added pressure of needing to win it to get into next season's tournament

so i want both, not either.

If you mean get to the final and lose vs finish top 4 then I'd say top 4 every time. It's vital that we keep getting regular CL qualification so getting tot he final but not winning, and as a result playing EL next season does nothing for us long term IMO. If you mean win the CL vs top 4 then win the CL is obviously the better choice. But being a CL runner up doesn't do anything for us.

I just literally did that just to prove you wrong :woot:

*Although he now thinks I'm a nutter ringing him up at early o'clock just to tell him that

If he's old enough to answer the phone in the small wee hours, you must be roughly the same age as Abraham.

TBF it was getting on for 8am and he's just left school and started an apprenticeship so I knew he was on his way to work. He's thrilled at the top 4 by the way :p

The dichotomy presented is worse than the current actual choice we have where top 4 is all but guaranteed and we have an at least 50% chance of reaching the final. Having both is the most likely outcome.

Top 4 please. Just getting to a final rather than winning a final means almost fk all to me, the club or players.

Really can't bring myself to dream that we will make, let alone win the CL final. Amazing we are in the semi and we can definitely progress. I think the semi is massive for psychological reasons for this team as much as anything else, we've had 1 final, 3 semi's and 3xtop three in the league the last 4-5 seasons. The belief gained from getting through will be huge.

I think we will pick up enough points if not all our remaining league points now to finish 3rd. Chelski playing Utd at the weekend helps knowing that at least 2 points will be dropped from both those teams.

We have to play CL league next season to prevent the feeling of slipping away from progress so head says finish 3rd, then CL but heart says it would explode if we won the remaining 3 european games (at least 2 from 3 of course)

I was thinking about this tonight while watching the game. If you had to choose between getting to the Champions League Final or getting guaranteed top 4 which would you choose. I know we stand a bloody good chance of both but for me I'd choose 5th and roll the dice against Barcelona or Liverpool in the Final.
I think you've just completely jinxed our chances of reaching the final.

Thanks for that.
