It wouldn't hurt him to be more commanding of his defence.
I'd have liked to have seen him give them a right rollicking, especially old tantrums.

Nail on the head Hugo. Many of our problems stem from a lack of leadership on the pitch.

glad to hear it. Makes a change from the usual drivel that gets rolled out post one of the numerous maulings we've had this year.

I'd make him captain. People don't like goalies as captains, but I think they spend a lot of time observing the game during matches and so may see who is expending effort; plus, good teams are built from the back. I hope he stays and we should not sell. If he wants CL, loan him out if necessary.

You just couldn't make this stuff up. But then again you obviously can.

players want to play in the champions league
how about playing well enough for a team so that they qualify for cl
as liverpool and possibly everton players
this would be instead of saying i and my team mates were not good enough because we as a unit were not good enough ;but i want champions league whether i have earned the right or not
all these players that join a team that is not in the champions league and shout about how they want to play in the champions league
to my mind are tossers and not worth trying to keep at the club as they have a weak mentality that wants out when things do not go there way
better to sign players commited to the cause of qualifying for c.l. or winning something from the sweat of their own brow
dont hold your breath there are not many players with character about
an example is vertonghon ;brilliant but not going to put himself out for spurs where someone who is maybe a lesser player but 100% commited
such as dawson

Well, I want to keep him at the club at almost all cost. Oh hang on, you think Sherwood is a decent manager.:ROFLMAO: Quick, run to the mods with another one of your sob stories.

How can you "keep him at the club at almost all costs"?

According to you he will be on loan!

You really should be on stage!

It's quite simple, really. He has come to the club with the promise of being in a CL team, but this hasn't occurred for the time he's been here. Goal keepers have long careers and I would like him to play for us as even Dimothy realises he's world class. So, if it means he goes on loan for a season to play CL and we keep him long term, then so be it. Although Courtois is probably the best keeper Chelsea have, he's on loan and getting CL play.
Next time, I'll use crayons for you. Do feel free to go crying to the mods now. You know that's the only way you can compete.

Not only a super fine keeper but also a gentleman and a scholar.

I'd be absolutely delighted if he stays with us next season.

Where have you read that he was "promised" CL footie?

I can just imagine the line of Spurs players standing outside of Danny Boy's office demanding a loan for a season to play CL footie. You must take some credit though because your comedy writing is as good as Jim Davidson's ever was.

Your idea is not only flawed it's as stupid as your suggestion that Lloris was "promised" CL football. What's more incredible is that you think that anyone on here is insane enough to believe it.

I think you'll find that a number of players came to a team they thought was going to a) include Bale and b) be in CL places. Then again, you'd probably be the type of person to be given an Austin Allegro with go faster stripes. You think Owlface is the dog's and that's why you name-checked Jim Davidson.

Talk of next season is encouraging

I remember Bale mentioning "next season" last season. Means nothing to me now. :(

Honestly hope we do all we can to hold on to him though. Jan we could live without, but losing Hugo would be an unhealthy step in the wrong direction.

You clearly said "promised"......so now it's "thought" and tomorrow you will say "maybe".

The loan thing though is a classic that i will keep handy for those little instances when i just know i may need it.

Now your sidetracking and bringing in Sherwood, in the hope to deflect from the main point. Whatever anyone thinks of Sherwood even he wouldn't come up with your plan to keep a goalie at a club by loaning him out. Loaning out our World class goalie for CL footie........shucks......i am still chuckling...........
