I'd have far more respect for Hodgson if he had said that he had been preparing for these games for a year and working with the core group of players for longer - just because a player hits form doesn't mean he can walk into the team.

Has he really given much thought to how Kane will fit in? I doubt it. He is just cashing in, imo.
