Funny how Ings is now being touted as someone as good as Berahino and Kane yet during the campaign no one gave one shit

Why don't we just use Winks? He seems to be a similar player and is 3-4 years younger.
Because he isn't ready, being younger doesn't mean you have more potential

Winks does have probably more potential but it will be a while yet before he is a starting player for us

Because he's nowhere close to as ready, and I don't think they're actually all that similar. Winks is a bit more composed and safer with his play, keeps the team moving, while Carroll is an out and out DLP-

like THAT, that ball into Berahino from NOTHING. God bless I want to see more of that at Spurs. Far, far too timid with our passing an ideas. Give me more of that.

Why does there have to be a choice? Use both of them.
Personally I think winks needs to go out on loan whilst keeping onomah in the squad who is still young but offers something no one in our squad does bar dembele though Onomah's passing is better

Then we'll just have too many again, and one of the will get no game time.

We have about four centre mids who can be culled without batting an eyelid. Winks is at a completely different stage of his development and would be eased in gradually at this point, alongside a loan to get some senior team football against adults Game time should not be an issue. I'd much rather keep these players who we know play the right way, can maybe provide things that we are missing, and give them opportunities.

See above, I agree a loan would be needed (I also think Onomah could probably do with a spell as well, just to get used to playing against adults/experienced pros). We can keep all these though, my point was there doesn't have to be a choice.

I of course really like Winks, but he is more of an allrounder. Carroll is more creative and risky with his passing. Winks is a bit safer and not as much of a long passer. Carroll has pulled off passes I have seen few people able to do, he showed that he can also play no.10 and I think he could be tried there. Winks probably needs a loan.

Pritch has struggled with his passing today.

Yeah I think Winks has a tremendous future, but he's just not the deep string-puller Carroll is. That's not an insult, it just makes them very different players. They're similarly sized and both play from deep, but that's where the similarity ends.

I think Pritch's weakest position is when he plays wide right. He's not quite got the pace to beat his fullback, but he's got the trickery off the left to make that flank work, coupled with his good ability to shield the ball for his size.

Kane must all of a sudden be thinking "balls coming in from wide, this is new....".

Foster-Caskey hasn't impressed me a lot usually but today he has been a class above the rest out of the players who came on

Chalobah is another one who would be nowhere near the squad if he weren't a Chelsea player.

TBF chalobah, he has been part of the U21's for ages, wrongly since his loan spell at Watford a couple of years ago but again funny how its worked out

Tottenham: 3 - carroll, Kane and Pritchard
Arsenal: 2 - Chambers and Jenkinson - chambers hasn't been involved for all of qualifying
Chelsea: 2 - Chalobah and RLC - neither has had a good season in terms of first team football - Bamford cut but deserved his call up
Everton: 2 - Stones and Garbutt
Man Utd: 2 - Keane and Lingaard - poor season by Lingaard
Liverpool: 1 - Ings - deserves to be there

Im sure the fact the assistant manager is a chelsea coach had nothing to do with the fact chelsea had a lot of players there

Insane that someone like Ibe, Dier, Ince and Shelvey didn't make but these some of these guys did

Pritchard had a bit of an off day but he was involved in everything good, I thought it was funny how he was involved in quote a lot in the first 15 min yet barely got a mention whilst RLC the commentators would not shut up about was not on the pitch.

Thought Carroll was great - great tempo about his play, lots of errant passes but he was easily the most creative. If he gets his chance in first team I hope our fans don't do a Mason and focus on the couple of poor passes and instead look to his talent at spotting a pass even if it doesn't come off. With players running off him, could be a big player but would need time to settle.

With some of the players around him, I really think he is ready.

Would love our midfield options to be

CM: new signing, Mason, Bentaleb, Alli, Carroll
Wide mids: New signing, Eriksen, Lamela, Townsend, Chadli, Pritchard
Number 10: Eriksen, Pritchard, Alli, Carroll, Lamela

First choice: new signing, Bentaleb, new signing, Eriksen, Lamela
Second choice: Mason, Carroll, Townsend, Pritchard, Chadli

Alli to cover the three central positions and would still get lots of games. Especially if the wide forward could also play up top.

Think this gives us lots of options to mix it up but also, and this is crucial, a second XI that isn't made up of players who can't play poch's side.

Would mean Paulinho, Holtby, Lennon, Dembele and Capoue out however.

In BT Sports' weekly 'what's on BT Sport' email they're previewing the England v Portugal game on Thursday and their highlighted player is Ings. You can bet your life if he was still at Burnley it would be someone else.
