It seems to me that he was a signing made to play a formation that we never ended up actually using, and subsequently the rest of the season it was a case of fitting him in wherever. I don't think he's a terrible player, but I think the wages would be better spent on someone else who'd fit those formations better and offer more depth (and goal threat) in the AM area.

The fact he's been given minutes over Onomah is an absolute shambles. That's without factoring in his cost and his wages.

Hopefully Levy/Poch have learned from this one and realised that investment in Winks/Onomah/CCV/KWP is more productive than spunking money on average.

Sissoko's best isn't good enough to dislodge the others in his position (in midfield and attack). It also seldom comes out. Simply put he's not worth patience because there's not much upside to come.

If we add to our midfield over the summer, I don't see where Sissoko will fit in. Winks is clearly preferred, Onomah is a better prospect and I think he's a better player right now, and any new addition will, I expect, be brought in to challenge these two for a starting place in what we all hope will be a busy season with a strong run in Europe. Sissoko rarely looked very good last season, and it never seemed clear what (other than perhaps pace) he was supposed to bring to the team, but I hope he comes back stronger and more confident next season.

IF Sissoko ends up staying for another season I do hope we let him play as a CM or CAM when we do play him rather then on the wing. Those are his preferred positions and maybe that would increase his productivity. Rather then forcing him to play out on the wing

Has he had a fair crack at Spurs?

For me it's a two part question with a two part answer,
  • Has he been given a fair crack at the PL i'm sorry to say that "Yes" is that answer.
  • Has he been given a fair crack at Spurs? Well he's hardly wet behind the ears at knowing what's required at this level; although perhaps given his time at Newcastle and his first training session under M.P came as a shock to him (attitude and handwork missing? Pure guesswork on my end) It really depends if he was signed to cover the wing or CM (wherever he played for France at the Euros) if it was to cover the wing then yep sorry it hasn't worked out but nobody should be surprised, if it was CM or CAM then the answer is probably no because i can't remember a game he played in the centre TBH.
That Shearer commented during the Euros "If i was a Newcastle fan i'd be asking where was this Sissoko all season when Newcastle had just been relegated?" (words to that effect) says to me he's either lazy or has an attitude, if that is the case then WTF was Levy smoking?

I'd give him to Jan to improve or sell but I have a feeling he will put in an effort just to get in the France squad for Russia

I voted Yes because he hasn't shown us anything to suggest he could get better. However, I must say it is difficult for any player that we make our record signing but who would not get into the first XI of most when we signed him. That is the difficulty we have this summer too. We have an incredible first team and any player we sign has to hit top form immediately or they have no chance. It can be done when you see what Wanyama did but that is the level of impact required.

I'm disappointed he's still here and I've a bad feeling he will still be with us come 2nd September. I just do see anyone else stupid enough to buy him.

You could potentially forgive his complete lack of contribution with it being his 1st season but his behaviour has left a lot to be desired. Getting sent off for a deliberate elbow, then within 2 games of returning to the fold he somehow escaped a 2nd red for GBH on a Burnley player and then compounded his 'look at me I'm a rich overpaid bellend' by slating Poch in the papers. He's technically inept, thick as two short planks and has the self restraint and intelligence of Kim Jong Un.

Don't think he got sent off, think it was a retroactive ban.

It's easy to reflect now with a empathetic attitude, but objective analysis of his performances to date would unequivocally suggest he's way off the mark and tbh it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Nothing personal against him, but jesus christ someone should bloody take accountability for what is widely considered the worst signing in our history, since... Maybe Bentley? Or dare I say that Ukrainian guy..

I think he's a good player to have on the bench at least. He bulks up the bench and if he can hit some form could be useful. I remember son having an average first season

Agreed with this - most players would struggle being dropped into games in different positions etc. hence why his performances were pretty underwhelming on the whole.

I figured he was signed for a specific role/position which doesn't seem to have played out, so unless we have a more clear use for him this season, we need to move him on.

He's not adaptive, or skillful enough IMO to be flexible in an advanced role and do what we've asked him to so far so unless this changes, it's time to trade up.

I doubt it, you could see Son was good player, Sissoko sadly just isn't. Think it's best for alll concerned if he moves on and we replace him with some fresh blood.

I think Mr Levy and possibly even MP were seduced and deceived on that fateful last game at Newcastle. It was, perhaps, easier to stomach that Sissoko was more of the reason for the debacle than it being a truly inept and unacceptable performance.

Having said that, I feel that there is something in players needing regular playing time which was unlikely to be offered to him. Also, despite him being a reasonably good player, for him to become a regular, he would have had to improve considerably to oust the current Spurs lads of last season who all stepped up to the mark after Christmas.

The thing that puzzles me the most is how the ultra careful with his money Mr Levy was persuaded to part with £30 million! lol
