He's not shit, everyone's seen him have decent games for Newcastle (mostly against us) and France.

What he is imho is a bad fit, he's never going to play centrally (arguably his best position) and is never a IF/WF. He's too old to hope for better understanding of the position he could fight for and not good enough to oust anyone centrally.

He needs to move on for the betterment of himself and our squad harmony, Pochettino has already publicly called him out for not working hard enough in training and with a young hungry squad, that could become a bad apple (setting to rot) quite easily.

Hopefully Levy will get rid of quick, knowing Levy (not personally) I'd expect this to drag on considerably trying to recoup as much of the £30m as possible

No, some people think that any given example in the pas to justify their view is the correct example to bring up. What about Fazio? Stambouli? N'Jie? How do those examples fit into your "past is the only predictor"-scheme?

Fazio was and is a decent player (you don't captain Sevilla if you're shite) just used incorrectly. He'd be suited to a deep defensive line (think Leicester) not the high-line AVB was playing as he's too slow.
Stambouli wasn't bad, just not that good. The definition of average.
N'Jie has not been given a fair crack of the whip. How many games has he played? To be fair he looked decent when he came on against Citeh last season.

All this is conjecture and opinion of course. The only opinion that really matters is Poch's

Interestingly enough though, Fazio and AVB were not at the club at the same time, were they?

Price tag is the thing that seems to have irked most people, if we'd picked him up for 10m i doubt he'd get anywhere near the shit he currently gets.
Amazing the hate he gets really, especially as you say, he's not been disruptive at all.

It's clear that some people loathe the guy. Look at the reaction I've got from a few in this thread, simply for saying he isn't disruptive, it's as if I've tried to defend Gary Glitter or something.

Sure he's been shite, but he's done nothing to deserve the hate he gets on here.

I don't hate Sissoko, he's a pretty vanilla-type character who you'd have to be pretty worked up to feel strongly about one way or the other. However, I HATE - hate hate HATE - the fact that we signed him. Even before it happened, it was a foregone conclusion that it would be a disaster of a signing, and it entirely predictably wasted precious resources that we'd have been better off simply keeping in our wallet, let alone using to bring in a better player.

Agreed, don't take this the wrong way but this thread's a bit pointless....it's just gonna attract all the psychics who somehow 'knew' he would be a bad signing.

My psychic powers don't end there, I can name you loads of players who would be terrible signings for Spurs... (y)

You might be able to guess at some, but let's be honest here, fans on message boards don't know fuck all....no matter how much they like to think they do.

True, I thought Soldado and Paulinho would be good signings... and they both turned out to be turboshite. However, I maintain that anyone who couldn't see that Sissoko would be a trainwreck needs laser eye surgery, and I include the THFC transfer committee in that group.

You have to feel for Sissoko when even ultra optimists won't back him.

Playing devils advocate here really with this thread, but one thing that strikes me as odd, is that people keep saying he's terrible, but expect us to be able to shift him on for a decent amount.
That's because he's still got a good reputation in France.

He should never have come to WHL. The transfer seems to have been a knee jerk reaction to satisfy a need for a 'marquee' signing before the window closed. Based solely on his recent performances for France our scouts then over reacted and must have recommended him. I just wonder how the stats of the guy didn't set alarm bells ringing in Poch's or Levy's office when a figure of £30m was demanded. I feel sorry for the bloke, square peg and round hole I'm afraid but the truth is we played all last season with the first team squad a man short. We could have spent that money a lot more wisely and had someone who would have come onto the pitch and been a genuine game changer.
Let's hope he is sold soon and we recover a large percentage of his fee....best for both parties. Chalk it up as a learning experience and move on....with the emphasis on learning from it. We cannot continue to make any more similar mistakes if we wish to remain top four and genuine title contenders. There is no room in the squad for expensive and ineffective luxury players.

Poch also has to take blame for how he utilized Sissoko. Moussa better moments came from him playing centrally. I know that we're stacked in the CM position but shifting him to the RW/RWB position was odd and clearly an ineffective strategy.

He has a very slight wiff of ability lingering around him but he can only seem to pull it together for one or two passages of play every five or so games. He should have gone to Everton really but might not have earned a spot in their team either. I have nothing against him but he just doesn't fit at Spurs, having said that he can surely only get better?
