The Qatar facility is called Aspetar which is a collection of specialists from all over the world. The funding they get allows them to get the absolute best resources and staff for research, coaching, treatment and general sport improvement.

Sounds like the kind of place that Guardiola would send him players

I’ve trawled up this pertinent thread from a recent age gone by because Harry Winks is on his way back, involved in a Poch Pre-Season.

Having endured a dire set of midfield performances in the World Cup Tourny from England, it is widely thought that the National team needs a maestro akin to the likes of Modric.

Last season in the UCL at Wembley, Winks bossed Modric in the centre of the park’s battlefield when we took on last season’s UCL Champions Real Madrid.

If Harry can recapture his form which earned him an England call up, we can optimistically feel that we’ll have six Lions in the National side next season.

Impossible to say - certainly on form he'd have been a really useful addition because he brings something totally different, and had exactly the skill set we were missing i.e. to actually play as a CM and keep the ball. As an aside, hilarious to think back to the time that people (and there were some) questioned Modric's value add to the side

If he can stay fit (this is key) and get back to his Real form, then I think he's a potential starter for us. I certainly think he'd be better in CM than Ali, who IMO showed he's not (yet, at any rate) credible in a role that requires him to dictate play and keep possession.

IMO he is still the most viable option to replace Dembele. Not like for like by any means but I personally don't think there's much point trying to go like for like as finding another Dembele will be hard to do.

Winks is the hard working, metronomic passer that we need in centre mid and he's only going to get better......assuming he can avoid recurring, long term injuries.

Spurs and England
and me and Ron
may be clutching at straws
we won't know yet until the new season begins
but this should be plan A, B and C.
The stage is set for the boys re-appearance.
Please don't block him with some over-hyped moderate
30 million pounder.
he has proved himself once
and can do it again.
I hope.
And he's one of our own to boot.

The last thing we want is another Dembele. Winks is exactly the kind of midfielder we need.

Yup, but he's twice looked like he was going to make a CM spot his own, twice got injured, and twice struggled to regain anything like the form he was in prior.

He's still a kid so he needs time, but it's a trend that he needs to break out of as it otherwise makes him a very unreliable (though undeniably talented) member of the squad

IMO, if HW had been fit last season he'd have started more games for us than Dembele.

Agreed - I remember at one point someone in the media wrote that he was the 'first name on the England team sheet'...and then injury, and then nothing.

I think he's fragile, and not just physically. He's got massive potential but he needs to toughen up in all respects. He's definitely got the ability and the brain, I think that's been clear from the earliest time I can remember seeing him.

Really like him as a player and hope he kicks on this season.

Not sure about fragile. I think that first ankle injury he got was a really nasty one. As a club we seem to take a long time getting players back on the pitch (e.g. Dembele, Lamela, Toby). With Dembele it reaped benefits and he managed a lot of minutes on the pitch last year, but I don't think he had much choice with Winks out.

Doesn’t sound promising, in many ways it would be preferable to be a physical problem rather than a psychological one

I like the immediate and long term future of Onomah Winks Grealish Alli Dier KWP Kane Sanchez Eriksen Foryth .

Winks pre injury was looking very good
