So hands up...are there any saddo's on here going to start collecting Panini world cup stickers?

I am. I appreciate 38 is a bit old I but will use my 9 year old son as my excuse.

50p a packet is ridiculous though.

I remember my first proper sticker album - Mexico 86 - stickers were about 10p a pack back then...I only needed 2 to complete it, a Portuguese player and a team photo...

Please don't let me be alone on this one :)

I didn't realise they still did them. I am the same age as you and I used to love them. I don't have a 9 year old son though, so I won't be collecting them :).

I used to love the silver ones for the club badge, got well excited when several would appear in one packet.

One thing I remember is always having loads of Brian Kilcline ones, with his epic moustache. Couldn't fucking give them away :).

That's a real man's moustache right there.

Finished Mexico 86. Still my greatest achievement in life. So obviously I have no kids to use as an excuse either :(

The very last one i collected i think i did as a drunken hark back to my youth, as it was the 94 World Cup in America, i was 18 and getting well acquainted with alcohol. I watched most of the matches around my mates, a group of us virtually lived there for the duration and we all decided to collect the stickers. All i remember about it was everyone having tons of Dan Petrescu's left over.

It's a shame, since someone pointed out he's the only Premier League player to have a TV show named after him, that's all i remember about him now - TV Show and millions of panini stickers.

I never completed one - the closest i got was Italia 90, but that was more a magazine you kept in a folder, with the occasional sticker. I was missing the Italian team shiny & one of the stadiums and i was determined to not send off for them using that card in the back. Never did.

I've got a box of swaps in my mother's attic still I think. I loved them as much as the book as there were so many. Chicken pox plus Godfather visit meant I was spoiled rotten that summer.

I am collecting with a few friends here in Germany. We are all 23/older but we still love it to collect the stickers and to have them all. Big fun!

Already have about 200-250 different sticker but still no Chile sticker insight.

Spurs player in it:

Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele, Chadli, Walker, Townsend, Paulinho

No Sandro, lamela, Soldado or Capoue

He is ...

"
Arsenal loan star Joel Campbell has revealed he bought 100 packets of World Cup stickers – but couldn’t find himself in any.

After being teased by Costa Rica team-mate Alvaro Saborio, who proudly tweeted Campbell a picture of his very own World Cup sticker, the on-loan Olympiakos forward hit the shops to buy a whole box of the Panini collectables.

Yes! You're right. I remember nicking a quid out of my dads jacket and buying 8 packs. Got roasted by him the next day as he didn't have enough change for his train that morning.

these were great as a kid - at school flicking them closest to the wall to try and win your mates stickers - i may try and coerce my son into completing the PL one for next season.
Never completed an album myself, but i did help my daughter complete a disney princesses one a couple of years ago.

Now you can also have your own virtual sticker book - http://www.fifa.com/stickeralbum/

Yep, yep and yep......

My wife picked up the album along with 3 free sheets of player stickers in Tesco yesterday.
Actually she picked up 2 copies of each, one for our 8 yr old and the other for me!
Once upon a time, the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and Co would have been the rare stickers that you'd end up spending £50 trying to get in order to complete..... Now you get them free!

Also started with the Mexico 86 one (Pique the macot!!).
Came close to completing the Football League one that year too. You'd collect all the players for England & Scotland Div 1 and then Div 2-4 were just single team photo stickers.

Also had the Back to the Future and ET ones.....

Yeah, our Tesco yesterday had free album (with 6 free stickers inside) and then had 3 different sheets of stickers for free separately - each with 6 different players on.
