It occurred to me lst night after the epic win over Wet Spam how many goals we have score in the last 10 minutes lately. Having done a bit of searching in 'tinternet I found some really useful stuff, including times of goals scored.

Before the Man U game at the Lane on we had only scored 3 goals in 80th minute or later, and all of those games had been won already. They were Carlisle in the League Cup 3 - 1, Panathinaikos at home in the EL won 3 - 1 and away to Villa 4 - 0 win.

In the Man U game Dempsey scored in the last minute to get the draw. Since that game we have played 7 matches and have scored in the 80th minute or lter in 4 of them. Consequently those last 10 minute goals in our last 8 games have won us 9 points.

I think what this says to me is that the team are now fighting right up to the whislt and certainly seem to have bought in to AVB as manager. This bodes well for the run in that the team will graft for every point. It gives me a bit more confidence for the rest of the season that we will finish in the top 4, 3rd is now a real possibility, anything better is a bonus. COYS!

As I have said in another thread these late goals are no fluke. This is what Sigurdsson said after the Lyon away game....

It was fantastic to get that late goal, especially away from home, so credit to the team for keeping going. We didn't have many minutes left on the clock. We've been working on [finishing strongly] since the start of the season. We've conceded a few late goals and now we've turned it around and we're scoring a lot of late goals, so that's a positive thing.

If every game ended at half time we'd be 12th. I don't even worry if we're not winning at half time anymore.

Your bit in bold sums up exactly what I was thinking last night. They have turned it around since the start of the season and that has won us 9 points over the last 8 games. That can only be a good omen for the run in.

+1

I hadn't worked that one out, but it does show we are finishing games strongly.
