Tickets Giving season tickets to friends/family for home fixtures at the new stadium?

We are two season ticket holders and we’re currently on holiday for the next 4 weeks or so, my question is, can we get away with giving our season tickets to family/friends who are eager to go whilst we are away? Or will this put us at risk of the club finding out and jeopardising our season tickets? Reason I ask is because I’d heard they are cracking down on this kind of thing since the opening of the new stadium.

For those that have been going, do they physically check to see that you are the season ticket holder themselves?

Our tickets are two adults, one male name and one female name so I’m concerned that if two males go that will make it obvious it’s not their tickets.

Thanks for the info in advance.

The tickets are scanned as you enter the ground, nobody checks them mate you'll be fine. Only problem is if they misbehave you get banned!

That’s not 100% true. At the bottom of the stairs there’s people to scan your tickets. They’d stop a man going in on a woman’s ticket for example.

To the OP, just set them up with their own reference number and use the ticket transfer feature. It’s free and doesn’t take long to set up. The link is in the stadium thread a few weeks ago.

This is not true. My wife uses my dad’s season ticket and has for all the games this season with no issue. I tried transferring the ticket to her member account but she lost her card and it didn’t show in the app - so we had to just risk it.

From our experience, they just scan the card they don’t look at the name.

This however is the best way to do it to avoid the unlikely event of any problems.

The scan at the foot of the stairs is only to check you’re using the correct entrance. People give their phone with the app to be checked as well so not sure it’s a check on names, but, of course, I can’t swear to it ?

the transfer system is so easy to do and then your friends get to print out their own ticket in their own name. Costs nothing so worth doing

I was lent a male season ticket holders card for the Huddersfield game in the west stand. The card was checked several times including by a security guard who wanted to use it to show another person what the card should look like but there was no issue with it having a male name on it.

Not sure why someone felt the need to give you a “doh” rating for this as you’re spot on.

The new system enables season ticket holders to gift their tickets to friends & family as long as they are members. As long as they are in your ticket network it’s so easy. They can then print a paper ticket and no questions are asked. What’s even better is that you can gift concession tickets to adult members at no extra cost. I used the system for Brighton as my son is only 9 and it’s a bit late to keep him out for that match on a school night. I gifted it to a pal who is over the moon.

If they aren’t already members just get them to join as I think it only costs £50.

If I were you, I'd tell your friends that you've checked out the procedures, that they'll stop any bloke trying to get in on a woman's ticket, but that they should be all right as long as one of them goes along dressed as a woman. It's then up to you how long you keep the pretense up, but, personally, I wouldn't let them know until after the 4 weeks were up...

If your friends are members I’d transfer your ticket over to there membership cards. I think the idea is that the club want to know the name of everyone going to the ground. Like others have said though they don’t check ID of the people going into the ground and I know people that have used other peoples season tickets so if you want to give them your physical card it won’t be a problem. Just as long as your friends don’t cause trouble and get your tickets revoked.

You can transfer them to anyone with a CRN so they don’t even have to be members. Go straight onto the app, brilliant system.

Gifted a ticket to a friend and it was done in seconds. Also even though I get a concession I can gift it to anyone in my network without any extra cost to them

Very interesting. That could be open to abuse! Not saying you specifically but a non concession could use a series of gifted concession tickets as a season ticket?

Unless the club keep their eye on things like that

I thought that myself. Hopefully it doesn’t get abused as it’s perfect when kids aren’t really old enough for the night games during term time.

Not sure it’ll be available for every match as I think it works in the same way as the ticket exchange in that it’s only available once the match sells out

Thanks for all the responses - have gifted the Brighton and West Ham games but can’t seem to be able to do this for the champions league semi. Will this be ok to hand over the two season tickets to them for this one? Seems like the only option but feel like it would be ok judging by the responses

Has your wife used your dads season ticket for the new stadium games also? And this hasn’t been a problem? (Including when being scanned by the people outside of the stadium)

Yea for the familiarisation event, test event, both prem games and CL game. No problems at all.

My entrance outside the stadium consists of mainly young guys and I don’t think they care, they don’t look at the card they just scan it.

It’s still a risk I suppose, so it’s probably best to reassign the ticket via your network if your prefer to be on the safe side.
