Agree with that. Was just pointing out that it was a short sighted statement to say that it’s only us who drag out deals
Yeah, every club has a difficult deal once in a while, but it seems more frequent with us.

Last summer we tried to sign Grealish from the Championship, Sessegnon from a newly promoted side and Zaha from a lower/midtable pl club. Couldn't get any of them over the line.

In retrospect we're probably glad it went the way it did, but at the same time those were our targets in that moment of time. This year it's the same thing with GLC, and god knows what's happening with Sess.

Meanwhile, Daniel Levy is busy Googling:

A lot of people seem to be saying the same thing over and over in this thread.
It’s like a bloody merry-go-round...

Exactly that. Can understand it if over paying on one fee might prevent you signing all your targets but in this case our only real target is Lo Celso with RS as a nice to have that won't make a difference to the first 11. Hopefully we have a mental deadline to quit playing silly buggers and just get this done.
First, I doubt it's just the case of a million or two, it'll much more than that we're haggling over. Also, it's not just about one transfer, as soon as we "jUsT pAy ThE mOnEy" once, every selling club knows it, and we'll add £XXm onto the asking price.

Honestly, this has been spelt out on SC so many times but still every window we get “oThEr CluBS nEVer hAVE As muCH trOUBle as US sIGning PLaYeRs”

Considering we are the only club to ever not sign a player during the summer transfer window, I think it is not without foundation to believe we seem to make harder work of signing players than our peers.

Palace don't want Zaha to go and don't need to sell him to do what they want. They sold Wan Bissaka and only ever sign cheaper players.

The equivalent would be that palace had not sold Wan Bissaka, had signed Pedro from Chelsea as a replacement for Zaha and were 50m in the hole hoping to sell Zaha to cover that and sign the other couple of players they wanted.
Having also shelled out some big bucks to buy Zaha only last April.

There is no reason why both can’t be true. Other clubs of course can take a long time to secure deals. But it doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t be any worse.

Might as well close the site down in that case. It’s a discussion forum... for people to ‘discuss’ things, not wait for prompts to say their piece and then sit on their hands for days or weeks.
Discussion should move fwd though not just in a circle

Or was it just the fact we were bang in the middle of building a building a billion pound stadium during the last transfer windows and the decision was taken not sign players for the sake of it?

ALL other teams have trouble signing players.

Nobody said other clubs don't have problems signing players, just we seem to have more difficulty in doing so.

As is said every window... so many of the posters on this forum would be horrible businessmen.
'Just pay them what they want' is not a good tactic and certainly one we are in no position to just do.

What people don't comprehend is that if this was a pure business Levy would be doing an amazing job, but this ain't, and his shenanigans have hindered as much as they've helped.

If you want the most successful business, we're nearly there, if you want a succesful football team, sometimes you have to sacrifice pure business

First point, totally agree.....the gap must be significant.

Second point, totally disagree......meeting close to an asking price on one transfer is not going to turn the public perception of Daniel Levy in to a ‘premium paying transfer bitch’ forever more, give him some credit.

The fact we are in the PL ensures £XXm is added to the price regardless.

And the point was made that as we all follow our transfers more closely than we do clubs we don't support the perception is always going to seem that we have trouble doing deals. When in fact every club will have difficulty.

My biggest fear now is that we'll reach a deal with Betis and then Levy will try for a Brucie Bonus and cock the whole thing up.
