Think we all know if eriksen stays no way are we spending big on lo celso. As the days go by there is less chance of eriksen leaving . On the flip side if he gets his head down and gets his best form back there ain’t much better in the premier league. I think we all need to remember this

Tbh this transfer has seemed very likely for some time, and from all reports it was 80% done or 'very close' according to ITK a while ago - as you state. And that's where it still is i assume, with (from previous info) player wanting to come to Spurs and wages agreed, so the bit left to sort is the transfer fee. Which isn't going to be a stumbling block as it'll get done at some point 'cos Betis are acting like the player is leaving, and no one else is getting involved as player wants Spurs. While fans want it done asap the player is on mandatory holiday having played in a tournament, so i assume couldn't go on our tour anyway (would need that bit clarified by someone who knows more than me!). So no real rush, he'll be pretty fit having played recently, so not too far behind others and with everyone fit i'd assume Poch would ease him into the action anyway, unless injuries forced his hand. I'm very chilled about this one and Sessengnon....then anything else is a bonus tbh

I also think we might be giving Betis the chance to sort out their incomings before it all gets tied up. If Aulas knows they have plenty of money for Fekir he'll start pissing about I'd imagine.

Agree, but we’d still need competition for him. It’s been an issue for some time.

Actually think the longer the days go by RM not signing pogba, it’s more likely eriksen goes

RM are trying to out-Levy Levy on Eriksen. They have got their major signings in and are awaiting the Pogba situation. The longer they leave it they can get him cheaper. Will go right down to the wire.

Strange given that Eriksen and Pogba are totally different players. I guess with RM it's more about getting a big name.
They actually have enough Eriksen type players already though.

I must admit i think we buy Lo Celso regardless of Eriksen. I could be completely wrong but i'm of the opinion that since Eriksen expressed a wish to leave, Poch has obviously had to think about who might replace him and how we'd play without him. I think (based on nothing more than gut feeling) that Poch now fancies this new 'imagined' team post Eriksen and even if he stays this summer and signs a new contract he'll either be gone in 12 months (if the new, younger players impress) or at the very least, he'll have a reduced role (i.e no longer THE go to guy who plays every minute of every game 'cos we can't create without him).

How many times has it been said by the ITKs that Lo Celso is not dependent on Eriksen being sold?

Was this before or after we put a bid in for saliba? Was it before or after they turned down our bid for lo celso and asked for more?

We know nothing for certain. But if we are bringing in ndombele (£60m), clarke (£10m), lo celso (£60m+), saliba (£30m) somebody is being sold. Then we have the sessegnons, ceballos and zaniollo.

Might not be eriksen, might be other players.

Countless, but let's not let that get in the way of a purgatory like relentless cycle of repetition. This is SC after all, it's how we roll.

We also had itk at the time bale was sold that our incomings were not reliant on his sale.
The itk's are hopefully correct on this and the information they have got is both accurate snd up to date. But there is a reason we say treat itk with a pinch of salt. It is not infallible.

I agree but I also think that Lamela is not a bad back up. They’re certainly not identical players but they’re more similar to each other than say, Son/Eriksen or Moura/Eriksen. Lamela is even better when played in a more central role, imo. The obvious problem is Lamela’s injury record.

I know nothing about Lo Celso but from the YouTube vids I’ve seen (yeah I know) he doesn’t look all that different from Erik. Neither of them seem to have that blistering pace that will beat a man (like Son or Moura) both look good centrally, can pick a pass, link play, uses space well, makes driving runs forward, tenacious etc etc.

Again I’m not saying Lamela is exactly like Eriksen or can offer all the stuff Eriksen brings, likewise I’m not saying Lo Celso is identical to Lamela but if you could guarantee Lamela wouldn’t pick up any major injuries this year (a big ask) I would be happy missing out on Lo Celso, as long as we kept Eriksen, obviously.

Respectfully disagree, E- Lamela carries injuries all the time and Eriksen looks disinterested and complacent. If we kept both, I’d still want another technically decent midfielder to provide cover/competition. We really need some hunger in our squad and another decent acquisition will provide that

Eriksen was run into the ground last season because Lamela was never fit. Don't see any reason to believe that his continual injury issues are suddenly going to disappear and make him a reliable contributor next season.

Come on Baz, when we were broke and still buying the magnificent seven, it was clear to all and sundry that we were buying on the strength that we were selling Bale. When those purchases were being made, it was pre season and Bale was away playing golf and not taking part in training. Different dynamics of the Lo Celso situation.

None of us know how much money we have. Does betis asking for more mean we have to sell? I don't know. Are we getting zanillio instead? I don't know.

It might be a totally different situation to bale. But there is no need to be harsh on other posters about it because at the end of the day none of us know for certain.
