I'm going to guess you mean can't afford (sorry if I have misread and not understood, happy to corrected) - I have no doubts we were ever going to go that high for him - thing is I doubt anyone was. A deal is there to be struck and the noise from those in the know has been for the most part still positive - even if we couldn't afford to offer the total they were looking for at the outset.

Yes can't.

All these negotiations are fluid and will change.

I'm sure the club has a plan of what transfers they think they can achieve at the start of the season. But it's only from one perspective. You have numerous clubs, agents, players involved that have their own perspectives.

We'll see what happens. We are just chatting what we think might happen.

My perspective is we should buy all the players then sell the ones we don't need for a profit. Fingers crossed! :playful:

Yeah, I do agree though, opinioned thoughts of fans on message boards is all well and good, what actually happens is another thing entirely.

I agree with that, but not sure it will happen . If CE stays, we may have to consider a cheaper option
The thing is a cheaper option means we are going to sacrifice on quality which negates making a weak squad stronger. I believe the funds are there and we will get GLC whether or not CE goes.

The fact Betis seem resigned/open to selling Lo Celso gives me a lot of confidence. Same applied to Ndombele and Lyon. With him it was more the fear of him getting his head turned elsewhere, whereas I think Poch has GLC locked down.

Keeps being mentioned that transfers out have no baring on this player coming in yet people continue to suggest otherwise. Not sure why people come on here if they aren't going to read what is written when it comes to info from those with knowledge of the situations.

Probably because news outlets (especially sky-shit) constantly mention this as the reason for any hold up of us signing players.

Here’s the template if you want to start a Tottenham news source:

Spurs show interest but need to sell to buy.

Talks ongoing between spurs and said club, but spurs need to sell to buy.

Talks at an advanced stage but spurs need to sell to buy.

And so on. Literally any article of us at the moment has that line in it somewhere.

Oh and don’t forget the old faithful that we don’t have anymore money to spend after TN, or that we are waiting for the CE windfall.

Not surpised a lot of people think this is the hold up, given that we have to read that shhhh everyday. It’s complete BS, and extremely annoying but not everyone can see through it.

This is the related story
https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/betis/2019/07/11/continuo-contacto-celso/233662.html

Essentially says, Betis with the cash from sale is first trying to tie up the striker deal(28m€ ) for Borja Iglesias from Espanyol. Deal is very close for LoCelso and he will earn 150k a week.
Key Quote for me is- 'Despite the current differences, both clubs are obliged to understand each other, being the mutual desire to reach an agreement. The Betis , meanwhile, understands that it is time to get close the highest selling history heliopolitana entity'

Nowhere else to put it but does anyone think the mystery under 21 might be Moise Kean, the highly rated Juventus striker? He’s available, highly sought after, we’ve tracked him in the past and Hercs’ recent ITK refers to giving Parrott a shot unless a more talented individual can be snapped up. There’s also a reference to teens costing circa £25m and up. Everton have reportedly had a bid of circa €30m turned down.

Agree. This feels very similar to Ndombele. This deal is a couple of weeks behind the Ndombele one, so I think things will start moving next week

Has Betis been linked with anyone incomings? I'd imagine that they would want to start bringing players in as it got close. Like Lyon did. Start seeing movement on incomings and I think we can assume his sale is close.

What does that have to do with Lo Celso? Under no circumstances would he have started pre season with the rest of the group
Yeah, I think the only small case you can make is that he might be able to settle in quicker in terms of his personal life etc. but it certainly doesn't warrant rushing any negotiation and paying a higher fee. Hopefully he can be in for the Audi Cup fixtures after Asia.

Same goes for Ceballos I guess.

Unlike the Ndombele deal, once we reach an agreement with Betis I'll feel very comfortable. He doesn't seem AS coveted as Tanguy and, more importantly, seems like he's set on us.

Can't be bothered to read up and see if anyone's replied but Borja Iglesias, striker from Espanyol, is a deal they want to conclude as soon as possible.
