Lo celso is a strange deal due to psg getting 20% of any fee, the question is £48m or so after psg get their cut enough for Betis? We will see but him being away for the next 3 weeks due to holidays after international duty gives us time to negotiate

I don’t think Betis are in the business of turning down 50mil+ offers.
Didn’t they pay 26m for the guy? Also a 25% sell on back to PSG. Hardly an offer they can’t refuse. Yes it’s a decent return for 1 years service but they lose a key player.

We had moved on, and we’re back to Lo Celso, now you’re part of the problem!

Is it 25%? I thought it was 20% plus they only bought him in April so its a multi million pound windfall for a couple of months work.

Haven't they already turned down a £52m offer from us?
Thought that was Euros, not good old Sterling?
Plus it was 'reported' as that figure, I don't think it was confirmed, although I could well be wrong on that.

so if they sell for lower than their purchase price, they make a double loss as have to pay 20% to PSG?

it's on profit only and my guess would be factors in associated costs, too.
So tough on them, if you end up paying to sell a player then don't sell but the way it works in these situations is that they get the player at a knock down fee in the first place, without the sell on clause they'd have had to pay twice as much. That said I don't know for certain which it is but I still think it is the whole fee.

Thinking about it, I'd be surprised if there was a kind of default template for this type of business. I'd imagine most deals are largely bespoke but the details are dumbed down for the masses. Maybe this is why deals that would appear relatively straightforward often turn out to be complicated and slow.

The clauses can be literally anything the selling club wants, as long as the buying club agree to it, I've no idea why people are always adamant that they have to be a certain way.

Woahhhh nelly. I'm presuming you've been keeping yourself up to date with recent transfers surrounding English players. We've had a right-back with one year's PL experience and not a single international cap sold for £50m, and a £70m bid REJECTED for Harry Maguire. Tyrone Mings went for about £25m.

There is no way Dele, at the age of 23 and still with 5 years on his contract, is worth any less than £90m.

There is a difference between a 25 mil player and a 90mil player
How many teams are willing to spend 90 mil.
This is in the luxury end of the market plus the wages.
Dele could be there if he focused a bit more on attacking footie maybe even more than 90 mil.
I'd say that Dele could be a game changer but he isn't yet

Dele had spent 3 seasons being a game changer before last season, where injury and a dip in form held him back. One poor season doesn't make him any less valuable.

Edit: apologies for once again littering the Lo Celso thread. @Ronwol196061 if you wish to continue this discussion I will be happy to do so in Dele's player thread.
