Adequate cover for Toby?? Sanchez has degreased. Foyth is a liability still and dier doesn’t want to be a defender and no way near Toby’s level.

Unfortunately we can’t rely on jan playing 40 games a season he always has a spell on the sidelines at some stage.

Not replacing Toby would be disastrous

I now have this image of Sanchez in a floral pinny with a bottle of Mr Muscle at the cooker.

The only position we need an "upgrade" on is RB, the rest of the squad just needs to be added too. So it's not really upgrading that's needed, it's quality squad depth.

I don't know why so many people want us to replace players when the squad is bare as it is.
You don’t improve by adding backup players for depth. You bring in first-11 ready players and allow competition to decide the starting selections. You’re moving forward if a new signing can displace a starting player, as that provides considerable opportunity for improvement over just a backup that plays minimally.

No place for Lamela. 6 years here, most of the time he's injured. He had great start of the season and the dissappeard for like 5-6 months. He is on pretty high wage as well. We have to replace him.

Dont agree, lamela still has something to give.

People forget we finished 20+ points off the top. Again...

I'd love nothing more than to bring in Ndombele, Grealish, and Lo Celso, as well as someone like Isaac Hayden to replace Wanyama (Hayden can cover CB as well). Just not sure we could keep the first three mentioned there, happy with playing time - but THAT is the kind of squad depth City have - it is the sort of depth we're talking about to mount a serious challenge.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but we are not going to sign 7/8 players to fill every single gap we have in the squad. Not in this window atleast.

If we had the midfield 4 I mentioned earlier, we have no need to keep Wanyama. He is the only one you mentioned that could leave and not leave another hole that would need to be filled.

We have to be very smart in our recruitment for this window, but I do agree that in the next 2/3 windows we need to replace or reinforce for each of those players.

They do however have a role to play at the club, especially Lamela and Dier. We can wait a window or two to get these problems fixed, will also allow us to see if Dier's injury will reappear or not.

Spot on...we have got to a cl final without playing a first choice side. Dier lamela winks kane wanyama have all been injured. Most wanted sissoko out. The progression for this squad imo is not change its strengthen, wanyama llorente vorm nkoudou janssen can leave, replace them replace the latter 4

I might of muddled my words, but this is exactly what I meant with the post you quoted, not replacing players but bring in solid competition which therefore adds to our depth.

Anyway back on topic, we will probably get some decent ITK after the final. Let’s hope there’s some news on Lo Celso.

Weird thing is I really like lamela. When you watch him play he never stops running even if he doesn’t have a good game he’s always just there chasing after the ball. Obviously I would rather be seeing dele, Erickson and son starting but when you need some energy from the bench for me he’s perfect.

The Premier offer to Betis for Lo Celso

Tottenham is willing to pay 60 million for the Argentine

Betis is obliged this summer to make cash by transferring some of its most important players to compensate for the drop in revenue caused by not having qualified for European competition. And nobody escapes the fact that the players who focus more on the green-and-white showcase are Lo Celso and Junior, for whom in England steps are already being taken for their incorporations.

Thus, at the moment, who shows more interest for Lo Celso is Tottenham, to the point that from London it is stated that the team of Mauricio Pochettino would be willing to pay 60 million euros. Betis exercised a little more than a month ago the purchase option that it had on Lo Celso, paying PSG 22 million that are added to the three that cost its cession last summer. Its clause was not made official but slipped that is around 100 million. Thus, Betis has 80% of the rights of the Argentine international, so the PSG would be responsible for 20% of a hypothetical transfer.

The problem we have, is that our contracts seem to be heavy on incentives, if players are being rotated and not hitting their goals, assists, appearances or whatever we're not going to keep players happy, while I do like this approach we need to have a more competitive basic

Don’t know what that video shows but I can assure you it’s Lo Chelso. Have heard it pronounced like that many many times by argentine journalists

Another video - interviewer pronounces his name Lo Selso while speaking to Giovanni Lo Celso.

It's because it is an Italian name and when said quickly and naturally it sounds like it is pronounced lo chelso, especially to an English speakers ear. This is from my porteña(buenos aires) girlfriend and the more I repeat it back to myself the more it feels right. Bit like beer, bear and bare(she has a world of troubles)...the nuance is quite finite.

El Tottenham, by Lo Celso
  • The English set puts 60 million euros to sign the Argentine
The Tottenham wants to Giovani Lo Celso . As you have been able to know this newspaper, the whole London has already put 60 million euros on the table by the Argentine, a player who has closely monitored during the season. Mauricio Pochettino, coach of the London team, knows perfectly the attacker of Betis and understands that his incorporation would be key for next season.

While waiting to play the Champions League final, Tottenham knows that it will be difficult to retain any of their figures such as the Danish Christian Eriksen, who is on the agenda of Real Madrid, so he wants to keep his back with the hiring of his substitute before negotiating the millionaire sale of Danish, who ends contract in 2020 and has not wanted to renew his relationship.

The first rapprochement of Tottenham has not been accepted by Betis, which presses to obtain a greater amount. After executing the purchase option for the Argentine in Holy Week, the club of Verdiblanco raised to 100 million the clause of rescission, which aims to obtain a figure close to it. The Betis paid 22 million, which were added to the three paid for the transfer, although 20% of the added value also belongs to the PSG.

Al Betis would like to stay with Lo Celso at least one more season, but the fact of not competing in European competition means that the future of the Argentine is further away from Heliopolis. Although the attacker has expressed his satisfaction with his year in green, and with his perfect adaptation to the city, the interest of Tottenham, with his compatriot Pochettino to the front, would change the opinion of Lo Celso, who, at least, would leave a good amount of millions in the Betic coffers.
