Not sure how reliable El Confidencial are

Real Betis player Giovani Lo Celso has spoken by telephone with coach Mauricio Pochettino and has known the plans of the Tottenham coach. This has told him that it is one of the names he has on the agenda to replace the hypothetical low of Christian Eriksen , intended by Real Madrid , but that right now the budgetary availability of Tottenhan, which has just opened a very expensive stadium, is limited and can only offer 40 million for his signing , something that makes his arrival in London unfeasible.

The Betis placed the Argentine one clause of 100 million and his intention is not to sell him for less than 80. The problem for the Verdiblancos is that if they sell it for those 80 million, only 43 will end up in the Betic coffers . The team chaired by Angel Haro still has to pay PSG 25 million for its hiring and that adds 20% of the surplus value of the sale to a third team, plus a small amount in training rights for the club. origin of the rosarino, reason why to the 25 million others twelve are added, being 37 million of the 80 those that would not finish in Heliópolis.

In that conversation between Pochettino and Lo Celso , the Spurs assured him that right now they did not have much money to go to the market, but that they would sign up with the money left by the future sale of Eriksen , which they practically lost in the technical staff of Tottenham. Once the march of the Danish one takes place, then the English group will undertake more ambitious hirings.

Who has also been very interested in the Betis midfielder is Manchester United, who has asked for Lo Celso and from England several media have reported that they could offer up to 60 million euros. An interesting amount, but still far from the pretensions of Betis. The Celso is clear that will not continue in the Villamarín , as it seems that neither will Junior Firpo and even Sergio Canales, because Betis needs economic liquidity , in addition to thinning the wage bill and the budget of the first team after staying out of Europe.

While all this is happening Dani Ceballos , who also knows that Pochettino wants him to reinforce his midfield, awaits the offer of the Londoners to leave Real Madrid. The Sevillian told Zidane that he was not interested in remaining at his orders after the Frenchman opened the doors to leave this summer. Ceballos, who is contesting the U21 European Championship in Italy, knows that there are several teams interested in taking their services. Among them the Betis.

So Real Madrid patiently awaits the negotiation with Tottenham to see what happens with the transfer of Eriksen, the man for whom he had bet from the first moment at the Santiago Bernabéu to take the baton of the game next season together to Luka Modric , who lines up the end of his career. Pochettino's confession to Lo Celso about the sale of Eriksen confirms the information available to both Florentino and José Ángel Sánchez (another thing is convincing Zidane ...).

No idea - the conditionality between Eriksen and Lo Celso is an obvious one though IMO. We don't get one in without the other going out...which could end up taking a while

Herc said they weren’t connected/dependent on eriksen. You do get the impression though that one transfer will kick off several others.

There is that 40 million figure again - seems to go totally against the original report at the start of all of this that we had a 53 million bid rejected.

More about the ideal of shifting Ceballos than anything else reading further into the article.

Plenty to ponder though so thank you for posting.

If this doesn't happen, we get relegated imvho. Could see 40m being a realistic net spend amount for us this year, so if Eriksen doesn't go I don't think we'll get that many in. Conjecture, of course.

There will be a massive meltdown if our purchases are based on Eriksen sale when we have a £120m profit from last FY and made around £70m in prize money from CL....

We’ve been told there’s money, that purchases of key targets are not dependent on selling Eriksen. I’ll stay with those thoughts for now, and reserve my head banging for later

It would make sense to play down our budget to the players agent and selling club, to hopefully get them to bring the price closer to us. I just hope the £40m isn't the truth because it's easy to believe! I think regardless of ITK deep down we all expected that Lo Celso would be Eriksen replacement only, not a supplement.

The point in the article about only getting 40m out of 80m is garbage though. If he stays they are 25m out of pocket (plus increased wages apparently), you have to include that in their take!

If true that article is disturbing. I hope it’s a loads of bollocks.

If we are only looking to sign GLC to replace Eriksen it’s depressing. We should be looking to add to what we have.

I very much hope the article is nonsense (and I suspect it is), but if we really do only have £40m to spend then we'd be better off pursuing cheaper targets like Dani Ceballos.

I guess it's feasible that we'll only spend big on one player, with the main target being Ndombele, and that Lo Celso is only going to happen if Eriksen goes and/or Ndombele doesn't join. Real need to hurry up and let their intentions be known, or this could drag on all summer.

Why don’t you spam yourself this time, I can’t be arsed even if you are my idol ?

Yeah we should...but we have to live within the realms of realism.

We should also (in no particular order):
- be replacing Dembele
- getting a new RB
- shipping out a ton of deadwood...and getting a good price for them all
- replacing Toby
- getting a long term replacement for Jan
- getting Eriksen to sign a new contract
- adding creativity in centre mid
- adding more AM options
- buying a long term LB replacement for Rose
- running the club in a responsible way to make sure we're financially secure

Now the reality is that we cannot do all of those things. We just can't - the incomings and outgoings don't balance. So we have to prioritise.

It's why I've always taken the info that buying Lo Celso is not conditional on Eriksen going out (as marvelous as that would be) with a pinch of salt - it would mean we'd end up compromising on a bunch of other things we need to do. It's not like I'm privy to the clubs finances, but instinctively it just feels a stretch given a large cost over run on the stadium.

I'm sure I'll get 'disagree' ratings, and believe me, I'm not happy about the constraints on the club, but I just can't see a scenario where we buy Lo Celso and keep Eriksen - or if that is the case, we'd need to sell someone else, or not buy Ndombele (who i think is fundamental to developing our team)
