It's totally unfunny and boring (either as a genuine saddo craving the attention, or a wannabe satirist), is what it is.

I mean it's funny if he's actually being sincere in his attempt at duping folks. Unintentionally funny but funny nonetheless.

If he's trying to be funny then it's almost sadder than if he wasn't trying to be funny.

I think he started out trying to sound informed and wanted the attention, and only pulled an "I've been joking all the time" act after being ridiculed to hell.

All the right noises being made now so hopefully we're days away from this one being done.

On the flip side, it's mad to think that Fekir was on the verge of a move to Liverpool not so long ago and now he's ended up at Betis. Super talented player so his knee must be in bits.
There was a story released today that mentioned Betis offering a first squad place to his brother, which was a big part of the deal for him.

Has there been a legit story today or is it all dodgy Twitter ITKs and the Daily Star? Ta very much.

A bunch of reports out of Seville and Real Betis publications last night (page 232-233 of thread) on how Betis are ready to let him go as they realize they can't complete their summer business (Fekir and Borja Igelsias) without selling him to us.

The news today has mostly be echoes of that in the English press and Fekir officially arriving in Seville to sign for Betis. Lo Celso was on vacation this past week in the Caribbean, based on his Instagram, so it sounds like he's coming back this week to wrap the transfer up.

Their manager said it was a shame they couldn't have both Lo Celso and Fekir.

Fekir just joined them.

Lo Celso has reportedly stated that we're his preferred choice of club.

I’m sure someone has answered this over the past 236 pages, but it’d be pot luck to find the correct page, so where would Lo Celso play in our system?

Part of the front 3 or alongside NDombele and a DM?
Whoscored: Lo Celso

Incredible young player, finally playing in the position he excels in. Don't take much note of what he did at PSG, he was behind Veratti, Matuidi and Rabiot so he was largely played out of position.

Can play equally well at CM and AM, if you could combine the best attributes of a #8 and #10 into one player, this is the player you're looking for. He is incredibly versatile and creative, along with being decent in the tackle. Would provide the goals and assists we lack from CM. If Sissoko had to power forward with the ball, we could trust Lo Celso to cover the DM position for him. He can create from deep and from up top. A truly versatile player in the mold that Poch seems to love.

Only issue is he would be competing with Eriksen and Winks for positions, but competition is always a good thing and is something we sorely lacked this season.

Along with N'dombele, this is right up there with my must have signings, he would excel under Poch and his team.

If we could get him for £40 Million it would be a very fair deal for both us and Betis.

Do not know if mentioned but sth I picked up on Twatter (I know) but who knows:
We possibly have agreed a deal for Lo Celso which would be around 23m for Paris (sell on fee).
And they are thinking of investing this money in our Danny Rose and we get our cash back.

Probably not true but I smell some Levy deals right here.

But we’d still be losing an asset worth £20m~, so it’d make no difference

Wow, never thought of that. It's certainly plausible. PSG has been linked to Rose and will get about 15-20m for Lo Celso if the reported fees are correct, which is close to what we're supposedly asking for Rose.

But I think that's more just someone connecting dots rather than it being true. It's not like PSG really needs to wait around for 20m if they wanted to buy Rose.

Depends on FFP - they might need to minimise financial outgoings to balance the current amortisation of Mbappe and Neymar over their contracts

FFP reasons?

If we assume that both Lo Celso and Ndombele make our first eleven, who misses out? I'm all for squad depth, but we're going to be in quite a new position (if this goes ahead) of having big name players on the bench. All the best teams have this, but there's always the risk that someone gets upset.

If we stick with a 4-2-3-1 then the 2 is between Sissoko, Ndombele, Dier, Wanyama and Winks (plus potentially Lo Celso). In the 3 we'd then have Lo Celso, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela, Lucas. I'm intrigued to see what system we play and who misses out when everyone is fit.

It's also curious that we apparently see Lo Celso as a priority over and above a RB for instance. Poch is either happy with his RB options, sees Lo Celso as too good an opportunity to turn down, or really saw CM and AM as areas we needed to significantly strengthen.
