Surely we can't go into another season with just Eriksen as a no.10 option. If he stays he needs to be rotated to prevent burn out and challenged if performances dip. Lo Celso is also more mobile which much be more effective against certain types of opposition. They could even play together in some games. Personally think Lamela should probably go due to lack of fitness over a season
Yeah, as others have said, the great thing about Lo Celso is his versatility. We could either play him behind Eriksen, instead of him or alongside him. It would also mean the onus to create wouldn't be placed squarely on Eriksen's shoulders and Kane wouldn't need to drop so deep all the time.

Without him, however, I feel we'll still struggle a bit to create from midfield and control games against big teams, especially when Eriksen is injured or having an off day.

Regarding the bloated squad issue - this may be the case for a bit but surely Wanyama will either be sold or phased out, Sissoko is almost 30 and Winks has injury issues. I think Lo Celso would still get tons of game time, and it would only increase with each season.

I know you can, but with Ndombele replacing Dembele at the moment we have a squad size of 27/28 senior players at the moment. KWP steps up into the squad, and will depend if we take the chance as using Whiteman as our 3rd choice keeper

Amos also comes up, guessing we are keeping him as I've not heard differently.

U21s that havnt been at the club for 2 years have to be registered in the senior squad for the Champions league as was the case for Dele, and Foyth. So based on expectations Trippier, Janssen, Nkoudou, Vorm and Llorente out. Clarke, Sessegnon and Ndombele in leaves us with 2 slots for a RB and 3rd choice keeper. Not homegrown limited. (Foyth takes an U21 spot because he is born after 1st January 1998)

Would be great to get him and keep Eriksen as would give sone fantastic options.

Need to be getting in talent to top up our current pool rather than always just replacing.

I have no idea if we have the cash to get him without outgoings, but it's certainly easier for Betis to hold a hard line on a massive valuation when he's halfway across the world focused on playing in his first big international tournament. We'll see what happens upon his return.

Exactly. If we sign Ndombele and Lo Celso but lose Eriksen, we've essentially just replaced him and Dembele with players of similar(ish) ability but haven't truly developed the squad or added any depth. Signing Lo Celso and keeping Eriksen would be a huge stride forward in this area.

Absolutely! I think if we sign him we’ll lose one of Eriksen or Lamela. If we are to improve we must sell Lamela out of the 2, as Eriksen is blatantly higher up the food chain than Lamela. That way the squad will be better.

Yeah that isn't really massively improving on what we have. It's so so crucial this window

We need him or an alternative like Ceballos or someone in this summer. Lamela replacement/Eriksen & Dele rotation #10 is really important IMO. But I also think RB, DM and backup striker are important pieces this summer as well, so we’ll see what gets left out!

I think if we have to pay full whack for Ndombele and GLC it probably puts us over budget for the first team.
So we get Poch's first choice in first, sell Trippier and a few fringe players, then go back in for GLC once he returns.

I still believe we'll get both. I also believe Eriksen will stay as the big two won't want him and what we're doing will convince him he's at the best place for the next couple of seasons.

I’ll have dreams of the YOLO midfield of Lo Celso, Ndombele and Eriksen that I know we’ll never start a game with.

I don't think we need it, but after the necessary signings (Tanguy, RB, LB/Sess), that #10 is next on my list. I think we'd be ok without it though, especially if we kept Eriksen.

More I think about it knowing Poch likes a smaller squad and that Enic will surely look to balance the books somewhat.. Think il only dream of spurs having Lo celso Eriksen Dele Kane Son Moura lamela Clarke Sissoko Winks Dier.. just seems 1 to many especially if Rose/Davies stay and we got Sess. Yet same time if you take out Lamela can argue we’d be 1 short as keeping him I wouldn’t think we’d need another ST. Tough!! maybe Toby going and Dier switching permanently to CB solves it :whistle:

I'd much rather we sell Wanyama than Lamela. I'm sure he could still get a move somewhere despite his knee issues. We just don't have room for him with Ndombele, Dier and Sissoko. At least Lamela is a versatile option. He's good competition for Alli, while Lo Celso adds competition for Eriksen, Dier for Winks, Sissoko for Ndombele, Siss for Son and Clarke for Moura. That's a great midfield with 2 options in each position

I'd be surprised if we no longer persue him should we get Ndombele. It just doesn't make sense that we would bid for him while we were still in for Ndombele. Sure we could have him on standby in case we couldn't get Ndombele but we wouldn't actively bid for him. I actually think we're allowing them to sign players first. It seems we did that with Lyon.

I agree, however I do think we may sell more than Wanyama.

Poch stated that this transfer window would be painful and I'm certain he's referring to certain regular players leaving and other than Trippier and Eriksen no others have really been linked with moves away. I'm sure we may have a surprise or two in that regard. I hope it isn't Lamela as I do think he's very valuable but the obvious concern is his injury issues which are a very regular occurrence.

Well we need to offload N'Koudou and Janssen anyway and I can't see us having 3 right backs next season either. So even Janssen frees a space for Lo Celso and the likes of Sess and Clarke are U21s.

We’ll never offload Vinny and GNK. They’ll be selling pints in Beavertown, middle aged and cantankerous, and still stuffing up our squad quota with their just quite not good enough shitness
