If that’s true then why on earth wouldn’t we be after him? People will complain about his agent but if we could nab him for £63m, then if he is made to move in 3/4 years you’ll be looking at getting double that anyway

PSG are reportedly willing to offer over £250k/wk with Barca, United and Juve also willing to offer huge salary packages.

We won't offer that much. So why get involved in a bidding war when you aren't going to match the wages of the other people competing for his signature.

Apparently Juve made his transfer back and then some on shirt sales.... Money not an issue in old Turin
Tell that to the FIAT workers who went on strike because they'd been forced to take a pay cut bur their owners could still afford to buy Ronaldo.

You should as a matter of principle and human decency. Entertainment should not take precedence over people earning a living wage.

But that's a debate for a completely different forum.
Indeed a different debate. And Talking about principles in a business where 20 year olds earn 20k a week is odd in itself.

Plus how much would his agent want ? 20 million ? 30 million ?

Ah damn that Tierney move will be a good use of their limited funds I think. Hopefully Celtic hold out for 20m +. Doubt he turns Arsenal down, they are liable to massively increase his wage
He’s a born and bred Celtic fan, living the dream playing for his Club being paid a fortune there, I think he’ll stay loyal to Celtic unless the Club decides to cash out on him

Harry Maguire to Man City for £80m........
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/harry-maguire-set-seal-80m-16896194

Strange but every time I see City about to blow all the other interested clubs away in transfer talks simply by offering staggering sums this tune pops into my head..........

I still find it hard to believe we have arrived at a place where Harry Maguire is valued at £80m.....

City are going to pay more for Maguire than VVD, De Ligt, Lucas Hernandez or Laporte. Amazing.

Unfortunately yes we have arrived at this point but the driver of the bus hasn't stopped travelling upwards. Clubs like City are now dictating transfer fees and everyone else has to wait for their table scraps.
I rate Maguire as a player but £80m and £280,000 a week ??. He isn't in that category.

Home grown rules aren’t having the intended effect. How many English players have city bought for inflated fees over the last decade? And how many actually make a first team impact above being squad fodder.

Does anyone think Delph would be playing for City if he wasn’t home grown? That’s why Leicester know they can put a premium on Maguire, not because he’s a better player than say DeLight of VVD but because he has HG status.

To be honest, yes.

If you watch the Man City thing on Amazon 'All or Nothing' you'll see that everyone at City loves the guy.

City might be smashing transfer records in the name of "homegrown" but let's not forget that the other end of the scale was Chelsea signing 3rd choice keepers like Rob Green on freebies for the same exact reason.
The difference is that City are buying players that will play regularly.
That being said, £80 million for slabhead is ridiculous.
