I don't know what the golf is like over there but I suspect they have copied the greatest holes from around the world. It is the sort of thing they do.

Yes they do copy and the courses are great but very very expensive. I suspect he could afford it though.

He literally has his choice of any club in the world (maybe not Barca or Athletico).

A shame for us if he goes to China.

Massive waste if he does go to china. Probably has at least 2/3 years left where he is able to beplaying at the top level. Could still earn a very decent wage playing for a top European team for those years then head over to China for couple of years and rake the money in.

I'd be interested in knowing the identity of the clubs who have had offers accepted by Madrid and been turned down by Bale. I wonder who they were.

How do people find a way to virtue signal about this? The only reason to move over there as a footballer is for money.

Bale is hardly a culture vulture, is he? He thinks buenos dias is one of his Madrid teammates.

Calm the fuck down, people. If he goes to China, that’s his choice. And if that’s motivated by profit rather than any desire to play at the highest level, so be it. If he’s fallen out of love with the game, that’s a shame but it does happen. Hundreds of pros document their falling out of love with the game in the twilight of their careers. Whole lives dedicated to one thing can grind people down physically and psychologically.

And anyway, like that ginger bearded tyrant @Archibald&Crooks says, we haven’t a clue what’s going on behind the scenes so there’s no point getting pissy over things we currently know fuck all about

I'd would be really surprised if he continued playing after 33.

I'm calm, in fact I'm drinking horlicks while eating a bowl of cornflakes, that's how calm I am, when it comes to Bale moving to China.

Bit late for getting annoyed now, and why is it a waste if he moves to China and why would anyone lose respect for him?

Bale is, therefore he does.

No one saying it isn't his choice. But it's down to being greedy really isn't it.

The only thing I’d blame him for, after everything he’s done for us, is him moving to another PL club. That would p me off.

Other than that, good luck to him.

You’ve misunderstood. If he’s had enough of the game, a less demanding league with less expectation, less pressure, less scrutiny might be more desirable. There’s also an issue with labelling him greedy without a comprehensive understanding of his financial world. Most players earning mega bucks invest large chunks in a number of enterprises. It might well be that he’s financially committed to things that a drop in wages would impact upon.

Who knows, but bandying around labels like ‘greedy’ without having a genuine insight into the mechanisms of life with that kind of financial portfolio is overly simplistic, knee-jerk and judgemental

Actually what A&C was implying here as far as I can gather is, how much of it IS his (Bale's) choice.

If PSG, Bayern, Spurs, whomever, haven't bid what Real Madrid are willing to accept, but a Chinese club have, then what choice does Bale really have? Yes, he could reject it all and sit on the Real Madrid bench and cost them money, but then his footballing career is done.

Yes Real Madrid will like him off their books, but I wouldn't underestimate their ability to deal with the money aspect and Bale's reputation will suffer.

I havn't misunderstood anything. I don't know anything for a fact, and nor do you I'm afraid.

But in my opinion it appears greedy, as earning obscene money is clearly the paramount factor in his decision making instead of playing at the top level that his ability and condition clearly still allow for.

Yeah to be fair, the reality could be the only choice is either stay at Madrid where it’s clear he’ll be completely ostracised or go to China where he’ll at least be welcomed with open arms.

Still a complete waste of a world class talent at just 30 years old though.
