Yeah, your probably spot on. I would love him back. I can’t see it happening tho. The wages are guaranteed for the contract length regardless of image rights or sponsorship so he would need that to be right. It doesn’t take a lot of bad press to start losing sponsors etc. He could do a Rooney and start shagging grannies or driving about pissed up. The wages are guaranteed. Would love to see him in a spurs shirt again scoring.....

Think you are being optimistic there. He's probably tied up with every sponsor he can be already. Real madrid are the most successful team in the world, moving to us wouldn't raise his profile.

Premier league most watched league in the world mate

Premier league is the most watched football league in the world. You’re literally writing it off. In all sport it comes second to some funny game in the USA and La liga appears 6th on that list. Like I said bale will be up there as the top 20 or so superstars who will command the most endorsements meaning his wages don’t have to be anything like that at Madrid.

60m and 300k a week for a 30 year old, doesn't sound like Levy, especially when that money should be spent elsewhere.

I personally think this maybe Levy’s swan song or Atleast mr Lewis. They’ve done what they have achieved sell the club and then whoever buys can either sponsor the stadium or the sleeves and take it in. One last hurrah for Danny boy?? Piss of Arsenal with saliba and buy bale for shits and giggles writings on the wall ????

Hes reportedly due to earn around £15m on top of wages....

Ok again endorsements and image rights are 2 different things. The endorsements are his private earnings nothing to do with the club.

The image rights are promotional stuff the players do for the clubs sponsors a photo shoot for aia, or wearing the new kit. They are part of the players wages but are paid as 'image rights' which are not paye so means the club and player pays less tax on them. It still comes from the club.

Sorry for hijacking the question, the talk is Harry gets over £200k in wages alone with goal bonus’s. So maybe he isn’t that far behind? Also, and I’m not being horrible but can you see Harry Kane speaking on massive tv adverts? I feel bad for saying that but in the world we live in now he isn’t a poster boy really.

That’s why most adverts he’s just staring in to the distance or standing on top of a goal....

Ok, I’m slowly understanding the image rights part, it’s just from the club itself. But he could make more money advertising in the uk than in Spain. I know that’s not really a bargaining chip if spurs sat around a table with him and his agent. But it’s worth thinking about if it meant him dropping his wage demands to actually play and be appreciated. ? Who knows.

That’s not correct image rights are owned by the individual why you have CR7 as a company bales has one which Madrid own currently as that’s how they work and Harry Kane has one defined as brands but the player has endorsements paid directly to them and not recognised as PAYE. The image rights aren’t just from what the club use

You never know we could go to our sponsors and ask them to help with his wages. If aia were to pay us an extra £5m a year. That could go into bales pocket as image rights and he could do promotional stuff for them.
You'd have to convince them though.

No. They have their own personal brands and sponsorship deals. They have nothing to do with the club.

We are talking image rights from work the player does for the club and clubs sponsors other than play football. Photo shoots advertising the new kit etc... Also selling merch with his picture etc...

People are saying because madrid don't pay their players image rights (just a flat wage) that we can make up the difference in wages by giving him his image rights. But that money is from the club so we'd have to pay it anyway. There would be no difference.
We might sell more merch. But not the amount needed.

It’s all bloody obscene when read it through isn’t it.... £600k a week ☹️. £50m/ £100m purchases, then agents fees. Wish I was a football agent. Nite baz ?

The guys probably got assets and money in the bank over £150m at a random guess. He doesn’t need massive wages to match Reals. He deserves it tho. Especially from those arses. He should take a pay off to terminate his contract and come home. Win the prem with us and live happily ever after.

Interesting exchange about this story:

cXvXyRB.png
The Spurs fan saying we cant afford another big money signing is funny. We’re after Lo Celso who might very well cost as much as Ndombele. The Sessegnon brothers will be around £30m. We clearly do have some funds this summer. Granted, we’ll likely need to see some sales before we think about Bale. But Eriksen, Toby, Wanyama, Trippier, Janssen & GKN could all very well be off and could net us £110m-£120m between them.

Two things worth noting:

1. That reddit post a couple pages back (from someone who sounded like he read the original Spanish story) said Bales salary was 325k/wk, with Spurs willing to pay half. If that’s true, and the other 275k or so are image rights or something else, that’s a much more likely position for us to take financially. 175k wouldn’t break our bank but would make him a top earner, as he would expect.

2. We are reportedly engaging with Madrid on multiple potential sales and purchases - Eriksen, Ceballos, Bale, Diaz - so all talk of transfer fees should be taken with a grain of salt, especially with the Eriksen situation unresolved. There is certainly potential for us to “pay” a higher fee for Bale/Dani and Madrid to “pay” more for Eriksen, and both clubs save a little more face.

Personally, if Madrid aren’t offering what we like for CE and he isn’t likely to sign a new deal if we reject them, I’d have to think that Eriksen for Bale (on similar wages) and a loan-to-buy of Ceballos would be a pretty acceptable outcome for both parties.
