Two things about Calderon's words.

1.) A loan, even if successful, is not going to increase Bale's value as he's 29 and a lot of clubs won't wish to pay what Madrid require for a possible 31-year old (he's not Ronaldo).
2.) "He's wasn't successful here" - is a massive lack of respect to the player. The goals that won them the last CL final ALONE and the one in 2014 are worth what they paid for him and shows it was a success.

You're right, that is entirely disrespectful. Fuck Madrid. How can someone honestly say and believe such a ludicrous statement? I don't blame Bale for digging in, if they wish to treat him with this level of disrespect and contempt, well fuck them. I'd see out the rest of my contract, the money alone is worth it.

Yep after seeing all the crap he's getting in Madrid, I'd quite like to see him work on his tan and golf handicap for the remaining term of his contract now, screwing them over to the tune of £100m.

At some point Madrid have to accept they've fucked up on this one, there's no nice outcome for them.

Think a loan in the last few days of the window, with unfavorable terms for Madrid, is pretty likely. Just a question of where...

Ronny is more respected for the finals they won because of Bale since Ronny scored a few goals in garbage time

Munich wouldn't surprise me, with Ribery and Robben just having left, but I reckon you're right in saying it'll be unfavourable terms to Madrid. Apparently Lewandowski is their highest earner on €225,000 a week, so I doubt they'd risk pissing him off by giving Bale significantly more than that. Around the 200k mark is probably the most Madrid can realistically expect the team taking him on loan to cover.

Agreed on the wages. Not sure about the Germany thing. It would require another period of resettlement for him. Whereas a move to England would minimise that (not mitigate it completely, of course).

I still see England as his destination, if he moves.

I know the financials don't make sense. I know the whole thing is a circus show without direction. But Bale was part of a select group players that made me animalistic as he bombed down the wing or through the middle. There was always an expectation of, "Oh, here we go, Gareth's got the ball. What's going to happen?"

Not many players have, or will ever, make me like that.

Our current team is great. Watching them penetrate defenses with methodical precision is obviously entertaining. But there's just something raw about a fast bastard speeding past you in the stands and smacking it in from 35 yards. At times Son can be that player, but Bale had that extra something that made everyone stop what they were doing and take notice.

I know it makes no sense. But I'd take him back quicker than he could pay off my mortgage.

If he's too shy to speak Spanish I can't see him moving to Germany and having to learn another language.

He won’t struggle if he ended up in Germany, half of them speak better English than us tbh. Also @arnoldlayne I gave your reply to this comment a WTF bc you suddenly started talking about Comolli. You in return wrote a whole comment complaining about a NEUTRAL not even negative rep and then spammed my comment and have the gall to complain even more ffs

Does that player exist, with any consistency, any more?

And is it worth the opportunity cost? How many other players would we have to forego?

I’m not sold personally, albeit I recognise there’s plenty of appeal!

According to Damien Commoli on recent Spurs Show podcast, he can speak Welsh - a bit more difficult than Spanish! Whatever your thoughts on Commoli it was a very good insight into transfers and including Levy eg Levy insisted he would not increase Berbatov's salary at Spurs and it wasn't.

Gareth at his best in our shirt.....

Love him.

One of my favourite ever players to watch. When most players leave Spurs I’m pretty much done with them but I still want the best for this fella and at times he’s achieved it. Wouldn’t have any problems seeing him pull on a spurs shirt again.

I think Bale could have become one of the greats but for being at RM at the the same time as CR. Would love him back at Spurs
