I said in another thread (race for top 4 I think) that, aside from how good he still is, one of the obvious reasons that we might do this is the effect it might have on naming rights and sponsorship for the new stadium.

Let's remember that as it stands he is still box office gold. In Spain and a host of countries whenever there is an advert featuring RM players he is always one of the 4 or 5. He scored a sensational overhead kick in the last CL final. He was being shown 100m tall on loop on a billboard in Times Square NY when he won player of the year here. He is one of the most recognisable players in the world.

If Levy is trying to get, say, £25m per year for 10 years for naming rights then it might get the deal over the line to say that you'll have Gareth Bale playing in the first couple of seasons.

I have no idea whether Poch wants him and admit that there is always a danger bringing in somebody who earns so much more than the rest bit I think this is the summer where we can and should change our approach. We need to capitalise on the CL run and put out some markers that say we're here to stay and we're in the market for the best players (whether strictly true financially or not)

He’ll go to Utd. Woodwood won’t be able to resist this one.

If that happens, it’ll hurt a lot less than it would have a few years ago. As good as he is, he’s not the phenomenon we sold to Madrid a few years back.

Bringing Bale back to Spurs is a no brainer. Aside from the fact that he’s a genuine worldly, it’s the statement that comes with signing him. It’s a message to the squad, the players who are thinking of maybe moving on, our fans, the media and other clubs that says we mean fucking business! 29/30 is nothing. Messi is 31, Ronaldo 34! Bale is in the same category and I for one would love to see him back.

Exactly. This in particular cannot be underestimated.

Gareth Bale isn't joining a Europa League team in turmoil.

Pretty sure Pogba left Juve for Utd when they were in the Europa.

Man Utd is still Man Utd.

Bit different as pogba had an affinity with United having come through the youth system and wasn't a serial winner that bale has become since being at Madrid.

I think Bayern might come in for him.
Would like to see him back but won't be fussed if he ends up in Germany/Italy or in Manchester.

He is financial sorted so if he accepts that he has probably had his biggest pay day and wants a differnet challenge then it could work.

For brand Bale we are one of the most exciting and dynamic teams that he could be associated with . In the CL final and a World Cup Golden boot winner in the team with Sir Poch at the helm. A plethora of internationals in the team. Sentiment aside this make sense.

As i don't beliive money will be his motivator at the end of the day I guess it boils down to his need to be wanted, loved and appreciated, something which has not happened in Spain!

Bayern's top earner is Lewandowski, reportedly on £285k p/w gross.

Lucas Hernandez joined on £220k p/w.

Can't see them wanting him badly enough to distort their wage structure.

Take United out of the equation, and the PL market for Bale imo is £250k to £300k p/w max.

So if United therefore have no competition as the biggest fish (financially at least), that then reduces the need to offer above say £350k.

It's going to cost Real £30-50m to get rid of him over 3 years.

They know it, buyers know it, Zidane knows it's an obstacle to getting Hazard, so they're lashing out quite appallingly in an attempt to strong arm him.

Awful club.

Well they are committed to paying him that salary so they are not paying extra on top.

I can't see him wanting to go to another country other than here . Then it would have to be a team in the CL.

Or he can just stay there.....

What they don't realize or don't care about is that by creating this media frenzy about him and fabricating comments to create animosity towards him they are giving all the negotiating power to Bale and his agent and the buying/loaning club.

You can't make it blatantly obvious that you're trying to get rid of somebody and then expect to get a good deal out of it. I personally hope they make Madrid bleed, whether it us or another club.

Daniel Levy must be up for this
He won’t even blink.

Levy: here’s the best deal we can offer you. It will involve you subsidising a significant portion of Gareth’s wages, and you’d need to fly him to us at your own expense.

Perez: But, we’re offering him to you for free. Surely you can’t expect us to pay a chunk of his wages too?

Levy: Florentino, that special relationship we signed on all those years ago.

Perez: Ah, come on, Daniel. No one really thinks that’s real.

Levy: No. Well, more fool them. You see, Gareth wants us, and only us. You can have him on your bench for the next three years. The most expensive bench warmer in the history of football, while the crowds and manager bay for your blood. And thanks to your hatchet job on him in the media, they will want your blood. Or, you can sign the deal today.

Perez: But....

Levy: No buts, Flo. You sign the deal today and all your worries go away (Levy holds up a thin pile of paper clipped papers)

Perez: You bastard. Give me the papers! What’s this?

Levy: I’m sorry?

Perez: This! What’s this extra I have to pay? (Perez growing angrier, jabs at a section on one of the sheets)

Levy: That’s my consultancy fee.

Perez: What?!!

Levy: Yes. I’m helping you out of mess. A mess of your own doing. That service isn’t free.

Perez: You’re asking me to pay you for fucking me? Fuck you!

Levy: Just sign the papers.

Perez: (resignedly) OK- but why? You already have such a good deal.

Levy: Have you ever heard of the phrase ‘Levyied’?

Perez stares at Levy, unsure if he’s looking at the face of God or the devil
