I think that quote has been rubbished and it was made up. According to Balague

It was apparently in his post match press conference ...

Zidane described Bale as the past and not the future of Real Madrid in his post match press conference but then admitted he does not know whether the player will leave the club this summer.

He said: 'He (Bale) has won a lot here but we live for the present and the future. We will not forget the past but we have to live for the day today.

'I have counted on other players in more in recent weeks, and if I had a fourth substitute today I would not have brought him on.

'I make these decisions when it is right to do so, and I must act in the best interests of the team at all times.'

When pressed on whether he will be working with Bale again when the players are due to return for pre-season training on July 6, before the summer tour of North America, Zidane added: 'I don't know what will happen. Lately I have picked other players. Anything could happen.'

Look there's no point Bale digging his heels in Real have laid there card on the table. Yes he'll get a ton of money being stubborn and live happily ever after but the thing is Bale already has all the money he needs so what's the point being greedy. What is the point of sitting on the bench at Real Madrid.. play football would be the advise i'd give Bale.

It's better for Bale to come to an agreement with Real, screw what the the agents are saying to him just leave and play football.A talent like Bale really should be playing so that supporters of football around the world can see him regardless where he ends up.

Money has really muddied the game.

I doubt it's even mostly about the money now it's probably about the principle of how they've treated him poorly and that can make you want to dig your heels in, he will feel they owe him something and want to put them to task on the contract

The way this is shaping up, I think the likeliest outcome will be that he's sent out on loan with Madrid picking up the majority of his wages. If he's really on €600k/w then he's owed close to €95m over the three years remaining on his contract, and I really don't think there's a single club in Europe who would even come close to shelling out that kind of money for an aging, injury prone winger whose game has always been predicated on his pace and power. Even United, who would be the likeliest candidate by far for that sort of expenditure, will surely have been chastened by the Sanchez fiasco and wouldn't even come close.

If it does turn out to be the case that no club will be willing to pay him anywhere near the wages he's owed, Madrid wouldn't even be able to get shot of him on a free. In that scenario the only options they'd have are to let him rot in the reserves or to subsidize his wages heavily. Assuming they choose the latter I think we'd be in with a shout, and I'd happily take him back under those circumstances. He's going to play with a massive chip on his shoulder next season, and I'd love for it to be in a Spurs shirt.

Sad really and we probably don't have the full story. Bale should just hand in a transfer request move on play football. Don't understand why footballers don't do that more often.

Would be nice to have him back but as an additive to what's here rather than a replacement
He and lamela would on average miss 20 games anyway so it's a case of just having options off the bench instead of wanyama

Prefers Erik Lamela over Lucas Moura I assume.
God I hope not. Poch is a brilliant coach, but Moura has contributed more in his limited opportunities than Lamela has at the club...even if you take the Ajax performance out of the equation.

As for Bale, I'd love him back for the right price. RM has shown him little respect for what he's achieved with them.

Because they are greedy fuckers who have no idea what 'enough' means.

Would you rather earn £10m a year playing for Spurs in the EPL or £30M a year training at Real Madrid and playing golf.

See that's what I mean....its utter greed if the latter choice is 30M training and playing golf that the biggest problem football has. The paying public are the one's being ripped off

I'd bring him back in a heartbeat, if I thought we'd be getting back the same player (or better) that left. But I don't think I want a player, who's happy enough to just hold out and play golf, for a principle and cash. I'm not saying he's right or wrong in his stance, but you have to question his motivation to play football now. I think he really is happy enough to just play golf.
He's won everything, and whoever Bale plays for next, will not get the same hungry player of 6/7 yrs ago imo.

If your employer promised you a large contract and then treated you like utter shit, you'd likely want what you were owed also. It's not utter greed to want them to honour their part of the deal, it's how all of business works. Yeah he has enough money to live on but he didn't offer himself the contract, they will have to pay up.

Guys the "pay me 15 mil to play golf" quotes are bullshit!!

Not everything on twitter is real.

The only people running are Sports bible.

The Sun ran it for 20 minutes, then withdrew it.

Paragons of journalistic integrity that they are.
