Not even brought off the bench for a potential 'farewell' appearance. Stating the obvious, but it's clear that he's not even close to being in Zidane's plans.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Don't suppose there's any chance that the mega millionaire Bale would want to give anything back to the club and supporters who catapaulted him into the spotlight. Nah, thought not.
I don't think that many players would think like that I'm afraid.

Surely if Madrid 'sell' him then Bale's contract with Madrid ends.
Hence the available on a free. Just get him off the books.

It's then up to Bale and co to agree a new contract with the new club.

Not sure it's as simple as that. He's due to earn somewhere between £90m and £115m gross over 3 years, including bonuses.

Even if he went on a free with a £20m signing on fee and £300k pw for 3 years, that's £65m.

From his point of view he's been a good servant, won 4 Champions Leagues and doesn't want to leave.

So why should he be bullied into ripping up his contract and writing off £30-50m? Because they want to boot him out for the next shiny Galactico?

I can totally understand him digging his heels in, good luck to him.

I'm wondering if this Bale Madrid contract is the worst in football history from how badly Real have fucked themselves.

Both Madrid and Barca have gotten themselves into big trouble with wages in recent years. Supposedly Barca pay circa £630m a year! I'm sure City's is in the £300-350m range which shows how crazy. Ours was £150m in 17/18.

Yeah it's mental, I'm not suggesting Bale hasn't been great for them in terms of what they've achieved with him there, however in terms of moving players on both Madrid and Barca as you say have completely fucked themselves with these ridiculous deals. Makes me appreciate more why Levy refuses to go big guns on contracts because you can be on the hook for 100 mill for a player you no longer want.

I dont know if the transfer fee bubble has burst yet but it sounds like the wage bubble has peaked.

Be interesting if any world record fees are paid this summer

I'm talking about the very latest deal to offer him 600k until 2022 when he had a large history of injuries with them.
He didn't have a large history of injuries at that point. The previous season had been difficult for him injury-wise, but the seasons before that had been injury-free.
