Bale has to look at himself and ask the question do I want to play football. It is crystal clear Real want rid, Bale being advised by his agent spinning the narrative...Sunny Spain playing golf - lifestyle bull shit.
I would totally respect Bale much more if he came out and said to Real I want to leave hand in a transfer request and get to a club whereby he is actually playing not sitting on the bench.
We're now seeing far too many world talented footballer at the top level or just below... happily fading into the squad collecting money.

Problem is, no one’s going to pay a transfer fee on top of the wages he’d demand. Madrid have cocked up royally by saying they want rid.

All interested clubs can now just sit back and wait until the end of the transfer window, knowing that Madrid will be in full panic mode trying to offload him. Someone will get him on a subsidised last minute loan deal, and I hope that it’s us ??

I get what you're saying, but why shouldn't Real be held to account by GB? They signed him to a contract for a certain wage for a certain period of time, if they want to break the contract they should compensate him.
I've no idea what you do for a living but if your employer just said to you "look mate we think you're shit so we don't want you here anymore," that you'd just grab your stuff and walk away from the potential earnings that seeing out your contract would yield? I know I wouldn't.

Disagree with this, When Real offered Bale ridiculous amounts off money to fend off other clubs and keep him at Real for the foreseeable future was was always a flip side to this. Bale has all the right to sit tight and wait for Real to make the first moment. If he hands in a transfer request I'm almost certain he then losses a huge chunk of change. Real should pay him out and cut their ties.

Agree with this, I dont believe GB should back down technically, they could make an agreement potentially instead of 100% for remainder of contract maybe take 80% being paid i.e. a bit of leeway , but i dont see why he should have to Forfeit all cash value, but also if he wants to play football and not sit at the bench he could come to some small reduction

The crux of this is that there are still months to go until the window closes so neither Bale, His agent nor Real Madrid are going to do anything definitive yet, it's going to be squeaky bum time before anything changes.

He won’t be coming to us. Just can’t see the figures adding up. If he goes anywhere, it’ll be to Utd- they’ll pay silly money and hope he’ll get them to glory

They’re stuck with Sanchez and he’s reportedly sapping their salary budget a bit like Bale is with Real.

Where he goes may end up being dictated by when the window closes in each country. If it is left until the very last then the choice may very narrow.

Lots of things protect you mate, if you are crap at your job they need to evidence how they have supported you and usually takes something like 6 months before they start talking dismissal.

It's not just that question though, is it? It's weighing everything up.

It's "how much do I want to play 1st team football in another country"

vs.

- significant paycut
- change in lifestyle for his young family
- change of weather, culture
- chance of proving himself at Madrid (as unlikely as that seems at the moment)

IF the options available reduces the paycut and prove to be a competitive enough step down from Real Madrid (or step up) then perhaps the other changes can be accepted. But as it stands, he holds all the cards. He doesn't have to do anything. He can enjoy his holiday, see what offers are available to him and "worst case scenario" he gets to live in Madrid where it is reported he and family are very happy, and only make the bench occasionally. Perhaps the more this happens, his value will depreciate and Madrid will be more desperate to supplement his salary again paving the way for a move.

But if I was GB, I wouldn't really relish the thought of more than halving my salary and moving my rather happy family from Madrid to Chigwell... as an example.

Why would he need to hand in a transfer request which significantly weakens his financial situation when RM are actively shoving him out of the door? He can sit tight and make them sweat, and they'll be sweating buckets by the end of the window.

Bit harsh on Chigwell. Doubt Madrid has anything that can compete with Sheesh!

Paycut - the guy is a multi-millionaire that already has everything a man could need. What difference is a pay cut REALLY going to make??
Lifestyle - the kids are young (7, 3 & 1). Much harder to move kids when they are ingrained in a school system or approaching exams. Better to move now than in another 2/3 year's time.

I think most players have a loyalty bonus clause in their contracts. Means that if a club decides to sell a player they have to pay them a chunk of the transfer fee. If the player requests a move they forfeit the right to that payout.
A player like Bale, on the wages he's on, with such a price on his head, he'd be mad to put in a request.

This is what's wrong with football/footballers in my eye's, it has become too much of a business. Bale has made a ton of money already through contract sponsorships business ventures etc. When he got into football it was about playing as a professional at the highest level winning throphies - for the love of football , Bale's undoubted talent, he really should be looking to play football again. He can just walk away and play the beautiful game of course with a settlement instead of sitting tight.

The thing is Bale probably does want to move on and play football. He know's he will be able to do that but the longer he waits this window the better a deal he will get from Madrid and the incoming club. It's similar reasoning to Levy's last mover tactics. The longer he waits the more desperate Madrid will get and others clubs will start to come into play that might not be in now.
