Premier League clubs battling for a top-four finish to reach the Champions League could become a thing of the past - if Europe's powerhouses get their way.

Have to hope this is not something that can be done. The prize money distribution at the moment is bad enough with the €1M per credit up to €32M for the top ranked team. having a set of team ring fenced would be stupid for competition

Means 3 of Chelsea, City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool and us would miss out each year.

This would only lead to the likes of City and United spending even more on players to ensure they get CL and thus creating an even bigger divide in the league. Remember the days of us being on the verge of breaking the top 4 and how exciting it was? That wouldn't happen again, take Wolves for example, if they can keep the core group together and manager, add a few in I could certainly see them push for a top 6 finish, maybe one day clinch 4th. But if this happens, the divide will become too strong. Us and Arsenal would probably be the ones who would struggle to compete financially against the other 4.

Its all about attempting to create a European super league, its been talked about for years. The idea of weekend games, having 4 groups of 8 teams, 14 group games, and a whopping 21 to get to the final. And the top 24 clubs, retaining their spots in the competition the following season. You see where its heading.
Not sure they'll ever pull it off. But some certainly want it to happen.

I'm sure a court would rule it is massively unfair and breaking most rules of competitive sport. Even more so than the blatant financial doping we've seen for nigh on 20 years.

Juventus also a driving force behind it...

The same Juventus who were stripped of titles and relegated to Serie B for match fixing... hmmm...

A European Super League is only interesting for teams from Italy, France and Germany as those leagues are one team leagues and it's difficult for Juventus, PSG and Bayern to grow financially at the same rate as teams from England and Spain. Can't see it happening.
