Can it be a foul when she was nowhere near making contact and does not stop the Norwegian from striking the ball? Yes she jumped in, but for me she doesn't commit a foul.

I'm not sure. You don't have to make contact for it to be a foul. I can't remember if the jump is what brought her within range of the other players follow through. I'd need to see it again.

This new handball rule is ridiculous. Australia lass challenges Brazilian player, ball ricochets onto her arm - handball. The player in no way moved her arm in an unnatural manner toward the ball. It’s going to be a farce next season

And then Brazil win a penalty where the player blatantly threw herself to the ground after minimal contact and VAR agrees with it.

interesting the way they throw themselves down arms in front in the penalty box at any chance. Its almost as if you do it enough times you'll get a var review.

Surely the best strategy is for the aussies to long ball it across the box, have willing headers waiting, and wait for the shirt tug then go down like a sack of spuds. I fancy a sneaky bet on a 2nd half pen.

Unnatural position had nothing to do with that one. One of the changes that people didn't really pick up on yet was shown here. If the ball hits an attackers arm and they get a goal or create a goal scoring opportunity, then it's a foul. Deliberate or unnatural position it doesn't matter. If it touches your arm at all and you create a goal scoring chance then it's a foul. So in terms of the referee there was absolutely nothing controversial about the decision. How you feel about the laws themselves may be different.

RSA v China PR machine. The south african number 8 has decent pace, can see them winning this. I live in hope of a goal.

I'm guessing you dont watch much womens football.Argentina got tonked 5-0 by south korea a few months back. We generally agreed earlier in this thread that south korea wernt great either...
Its like comparing the england mens team with panama, and saying ooooh BIG RIVALS! Politically yes if you live in the 1980s, but otherwise no , not really.

at least 3, but yes 5 would be nice. It depends on how cynical argentina are about breaking up the play, and trying to make it a bitty affair.

Also if England are as merciless as they should be...I want to see the USA attitude...score as many as you possibly can. No shutting shop and thinking "That'll do us"

I do too. I find it hard to watch all of it. on one screen i'm busy writing code, on the other the football is streamed. The quicker i get done the more personal time i have to watch.

I feel there should be a price for that but there should be a spectrum.

Ball flicks hand/arm far away from a scoring opportunity = indirect freekick
Hand to ball far away from a scoring opportunity = indirect freekick + yellow
Ball to hand that potentially prevents a goal = penalty
Hand to ball that potentially prevents a goal = red + penalty

In other words the same common sense used for tackles.
